SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) – Still in the spirit of commemorating National Education Day (Hardiknas), PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) held a sharing session while receiving an academic visit from 72 students of the Accounting Department of the Islamic University of Bandung (UNISBA) on Monday (4/5) at the TPS office, Jalan Tanjung Mutiara 1 Surabaya.

This visit was part of TPS's commitment to Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL), particularly in the education pillar. The students had the opportunity to participate in a sharing session on container terminal management from an accounting perspective.

TPS Corporate Secretary, Erika A. Palupi, said that this activity is a manifestation of the company's ongoing role in supporting the world of education and preparing superior human resources that are relevant to industrial needs.

"This commemoration of National Education Day provides an opportunity for TPS to share best practices with students. We want to illustrate that accounting is no longer conventional. Accounting has evolved, including its role in measuring social impact through Social Return on Investment (SROI) and managing and reporting sustainable performance through Sustainability Reports ," said Erika.

He added, as a company operating in the port sector, TPS consistently applies the principles of sustainability and good corporate governance , so that the role of accounting becomes very strategic in supporting management decision making.

In the sharing session, TPS also explained how accounting plays a role in supporting transparency, accountability, and the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects in container terminal management. This provided students with insight into the direct application of accounting knowledge in the industrial world.

The activity continued with an interactive discussion that provided an opportunity for students to ask questions and exchange views with TPS practitioners regarding the challenges and opportunities of the accounting profession in the logistics and port sector.

TPS hopes that this activity can strengthen the synergy between the industrial world and the world of education, especially higher education, while also supporting the development of the quality of national education as a sustainable implementation of the TJSL program.
