SEMARANG INDONESIA (ISL News) - Semarang Container Terminal (TPK Semarang) distributed used tire donations to the residents of Terboyo Wetan Village, Semarang City, and to the IV/Diponegoro Military Regional Command, specifically the 400/BR Infantry Battalion. This program is part of the company's commitment to implementing Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL), as well as efforts to manage non-B3 solid waste that is oriented towards the principle of sustainability.

The used tire donations were put to productive use by each recipient. Residents of Terboyo Wetan used them as riverbank reinforcements to help reduce the risk of abrasion and flooding that frequently occur in the area. Meanwhile, the 400th Infantry Battalion/BR utilized used tires to support training facilities at the shooting range.

Terminal Head TPK Semarang, I Nyoman Sutrisna, said that this initiative is a concrete form of implementing the circular economy principle in the company's operations, where the waste produced can be reprocessed into resources that provide added value.

"Through this TJSL program, we strive to ensure that waste management doesn't stop at disposal, but rather allows for productive reuse. We hope this grant will not only benefit the environment but also support the needs of the community and stakeholders," said Nyoman.

Terboyo Wetan resident representative, Maskuri, appreciated the support provided by TPK Semarang, which he considered to be on target and aligned with the community's needs in facing environmental challenges, particularly in flood risk mitigation efforts and strengthening simple infrastructure in residential areas.

"We are greatly helped by this grant. We will use the used tires to reinforce riverbanks, especially in areas prone to landslides and abrasion. We hope this will reduce the risk of flooding, which has been a recurring problem," he said.

Similar appreciation was also expressed by the representative of Kodam IV/Diponegoro, Sergeant Ridwan, who assessed that the support made a real contribution in improving the quality and readiness of training facilities, while also supporting the effectiveness of the implementation of the soldier's capability development program in the field.

"This assistance is very useful in supporting training facilities at the shooting range, particularly in improving security, resilience, and the variety of training scenarios we conduct. We appreciate the synergy between the Semarang TPK and the IV/Diponegoro Military Command, as this collaboration not only supports our operational needs but also reflects a shared concern for more optimal and sustainable resource utilization," he explained.

Through this program, TPK Semarang continues to strengthen its role as a business entity that focuses not only on operational performance but also consistently upholds its commitment to environmental sustainability and social development. Moving forward, the company will continue to promote more adaptive and collaborative CSR initiatives, emphasizing shared value creation and tangible, sustainable impacts on the communities surrounding its operations.
