JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News) – Amidst the high volume of loading and unloading activity at container terminals, occupational safety is a non-negotiable aspect. For IPC Container Terminal (IPC TPK), productive and reliable operations can only be achieved if all work activities are carried out with a strong safety culture by all port personnel, including partners who operate daily in the terminal area.

IPC TPK affirmed this commitment through a hybrid Sharing Session: Safety Awareness 2026 held at the Pelindo Regional 2 Building Hall, Tanjung Priok Branch (April 30). Themed "The Role of Health and Behavior-Based Safety in Preventing Occupational Accidents for Office and Field Workers," the event is part of the company's strategic move to strengthen a comprehensive work safety culture within the terminal.

This forum not only serves as a gathering for port stakeholders but also as a momentum to raise awareness that occupational safety is a shared responsibility. IPC TPK believes that every worker in the terminal area, both internal employees and partners of stevedoring companies, plays a vital role in maintaining safe and smooth port operations.

IPC TPK President Director Guna Mulyana emphasized that no operational achievement is worth the risk of losing life due to workplace accidents. He stated that safety must be a top priority in every terminal operational activity. "Seeing the increasing performance year after year, we urge all workers to continue changing their behavior to prioritize safety and care about working conditions. We work for nothing less than to arrive safely and leave safely," Guna said.

He added that workplace accidents not only cause moral and material losses but can also directly disrupt terminal operations and the logistics chain at the port. Therefore, the company continues to promote the strengthening of a safety culture so that it becomes a habit and a collective awareness for all parties working in the terminal area.

With operational activities that last 24 hours and involve heavy equipment and high mobility, IPC TPK considers the Behavior Based Safety (BBS) approach to be an important step in building work behavior that is more disciplined, alert, and aware of work risks.

Occupational health expert Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Sp.OK, served as the main speaker. He highlighted the importance of behavioral change in reducing the number of workplace accidents in port environments. He explained that most workplace incidents are triggered by unsafe behavior, low risk awareness, and fatigue, which workers often go unnoticed.

According to him, the implementation of fatigue management, a healthy lifestyle, and increased safety awareness are important factors in minimizing human error in container terminal operational activities that have a high level of risk.

The event was attended by Yandri Trisaputra, Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, stevedoring company partners, and IPC TPK management. The presence of these stakeholders reflects the importance of collaboration in building a stronger and more sustainable safety culture within the port environment.

Through Safety Awareness 2026, IPC TPK affirms its commitment to continuously fostering a safety culture as the foundation of the company's operations. The company believes that a productive terminal can only be achieved if all workers can carry out their activities safely, healthily, and securely.

"Looking ahead, let's work together to make improvements to continue prioritizing the safety of both field and back office workers," Guna concluded.
