MAKASSAR (ISL News) - PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim introduced the concept of managing Benoa Port as a national energy hub and maritime tourism destination at the 11th Annual LNG Supply, Transport & Storage Forum 2026 at Padma Resort, Bali, May 6–7, 2026.
Director of Operations and Engineering of PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim, Edward Danner Pardamean Napitupulu, was present as a speaker presenting the material “The Benoa Model: How Bali's FSRU and Maritime Tourism Hub Coexist Through Integrated Energy, Safety, and Environmental Governance.” The forum themed “Delivering Resilience: Enabling Regional Energy Access Through Flexible LNG Solutions for Infrastructure, Innovation & Integration” was attended by stakeholders in the energy and maritime sectors, including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, SKK Migas, Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia, PT Pertamina Gas Negara, PT PELNI, FSRU operators, and LNG shipping and logistics companies.
In his presentation, Edward explained Benoa Port's strategic position as a critical national energy hub, continuing to serve as a gateway for Bali's maritime tourism. The Benoa LNG Terminal supports the island's electricity needs, while the port area serves cruise ships, inter-island ferries, and tour boats.
"Benoa's success lies in integrated coordination between all stakeholders so that energy operations and tourism activities can run side by side safely and optimally," said Edward.
This management is implemented through an Integrated Coordination Framework involving the Port Authority (KSOP), FSRU operators, PLN (State Electricity Company), the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), tourism operators, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), and Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency). This cross-sector collaboration is key to maintaining operational safety, shipping security, and environmental protection in the port area. The Benoa management model is considered an example of integrating strategic energy infrastructure with maritime tourism areas that can be replicated in other regions in Indonesia. PJM affirms its commitment to continuously strengthening the role of Benoa Port as a multifunctional port that supports national energy security and the growth of the tourism sector.
