JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News) - Eid al-Adha 1447 H is a moment for IPC Container Terminal (IPC TPK) to expand social benefits to communities surrounding the company's operational areas. This year, IPC TPK distributed 26 sacrificial animals to communities in various operational areas as a manifestation of social concern and strengthening the harmonious relationship between the port and its surrounding environment.
The distribution of sacrificial animals took place across several IPC TPK operational areas, including Jakarta, Pontianak, Palembang, Jambi, Padang, and Lampung. The aid was provided to communities within the port's first ring, stevedoring workers (TKBM), port stakeholders, social foundations, and community groups in need. For IPC TPK, Eid al-Adha is not just an annual tradition, but also a space to provide broader benefits to the community.
The company's presence in the port area is expected to not only stimulate logistics and economic activity but also deliver tangible and sustainable social impact. This program is part of the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, particularly in the social aspect by strengthening inclusive and sustainable relationships with the communities surrounding the port.
Furthermore, this program also reflects the implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) values by ensuring that benefits are distributed equitably across all levels of society within the company's operational areas. Daniel Setiawan, Senior Manager of the Corporate Secretariat of PT IPC Terminal Petikemas, stated that the spirit of Eid al-Adha serves as an important reminder of the meaning of sharing and social care, especially for communities living alongside port activities.
"Through this sacrificial animal distribution program, IPC TPK aims to provide tangible benefits to the community while strengthening harmonious relationships between the company and its surrounding community. We believe that ports are not just spaces for logistics activities, but also part of a social ecosystem that must grow alongside the community," he said.
Furthermore, this program is also in line with IPC TPK's support for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 2 – Zero Hunger through the distribution of nutritious food to the community and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities through the equal distribution of social benefits around the company's operational areas.
These efforts are considered relevant to the ongoing food security challenges, particularly in North Jakarta. In the Jakarta Regional Food and Nutrition Action Plan 2024–2026, the Jakarta Provincial Government targets a Prevalence of Undernutrition (PoU) figure of around 2.5% by 2026.
Meanwhile, the North Jakarta City Government continues to implement various programs to accelerate stunting reduction and strengthen community food security. Through the spirit of Eid al-Adha, IPC TPK hopes that the values of togetherness, solidarity, and social awareness will continue to grow and provide a sustainable positive impact on the communities surrounding the company's operational areas.
