SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News, February 3, 2025) – Operational activities following the Pacific 88 ship incident at the South Jamrud Pier of Tanjung Perak Port, managed by PT Pelindo Multi Terminal, have returned to normal and are conducive on Tuesday (3/2/2026).
PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 3 and KSOP are currently coordinating to prepare an operational and berthing scheme for ships at the Jamrud Selatan pier so that services to service users are not disrupted.
This was conveyed directly by the Branch Manager of Jamrud Nilam Terminal Mirah Muh Junaedhy, according to him, after the evacuation of victims with Basarnas and Ditpolairud, Pelindo continued to focus on the container evacuation process. In addition, the operational team also cleaned up scattered goods in the dock area, as part of efforts to restore operational conditions and maintain occupational safety and health (K3) standards in the port area.
Pelindo also deployed search equipment or sonar scans to ensure that no containers were left behind that could disrupt shipping, considering that port activities at the location have gradually returned to normal.
"Currently, operational activities in the South Jamrud Pier area have returned to running smoothly and conducively, and are being intensively monitored to ensure that port operations remain safe, orderly, and under control," explained Muh Junaedy.
In line with Pelindo, KSOP ensured that the evacuation and post-incident handling process of the Pacific 88 ship at Jamrud Selatan Pier, Tanjung Perak Port, had been carried out quickly, coordinated, and prioritized safety aspects and smooth port operations.
Arizal Hendriawan, Head of the Tanjung Perak Port Operations Operations Unit (KSOP), stated that his office is overseeing the evacuation and handling of the incident in accordance with applicable maritime safety regulations. "The KSOP, together with Pelindo and related agencies, is ensuring that all stages of the handling process are carried out according to procedure, from securing the area and evacuating objects in the waters to normalizing the shipping lane," Arizal said.
Meanwhile, Pelindo expressed its deepest condolences to the victims. To ease the burden on the families, Pelindo is providing compensation and is committed to ensuring the victims' rights are fulfilled in accordance with applicable regulations. He further explained that the incident is currently under investigation by the authorities and relevant agencies.
