JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News, February 4, 2026) – IPC Container Terminal (IPC TPK) continues to strengthen its commitment to creating a safe, resilient, and sustainable port environment. Efforts to build a safe port environment are carried out not only within the operational area but also by involving the surrounding community.
Through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, IPC TPK held Fire Emergency Response Training for residents of Warakas Village, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, which was held in the framework of the 2026 National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month.
Warakas Village is a densely populated area directly adjacent to the Tanjung Priok Port area and poses a high fire risk. Recognizing this situation, the IPC TPK has taken preventative measures by equipping residents with basic emergency response skills, enabling a swift initial response before the risk escalates.
A total of 50 participants representing 14 neighborhood associations (RW), youth organizations (Karang Taruna), PPSU (Sub-district police), Babinsa (Village Supervisory Agency), PKK (Family Welfare Movement), and other village officials participated in the training, held in collaboration with the Tanjung Priok District Fire and Rescue Sector. Participants received training on fire prevention theory, an introduction to various types of fire sources, practical use of portable fire extinguishers (APAR), and a simulation of extinguishing a small-scale fire.
As a form of real support for environmental preparedness, IPC TPK provided assistance in the form of 5 new APAR units and refilled 33 APAR units belonging to residents, so that residents have independent fire fighting facilities that can be used in emergency situations.
"The surrounding community is a vital part of the port ecosystem. When residents are knowledgeable and prepared to handle fires, risks can be minimized and the environment becomes safer for all parties. Safety is a shared responsibility, and collaboration between companies, the government, and residents is key to creating a resilient region," said Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary of IPC TPK.
Sumarno, Acting Head of the Fire and Rescue Sector of Tanjung Priok District, also expressed his support for this initiative.
"We hope that with the training and understanding provided today, the number of fire incidents in Warakas will decrease, so that the community will be more prepared and alert in dealing with emergency situations," he said.
This activity was attended by Sri Diana Tungga Dewi, Head of Warakas Village, as a form of synergy between the village government and the company in strengthening community environmental safety.
Through this training, IPC TPK encourages the emergence of safety champions at the community level who are able to impart knowledge and build a sustainable culture of safety awareness in their respective environments.
This TJSL program also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) point 11 on Sustainable Cities and Settlements, by strengthening community preparedness for fire and disaster risks around port areas.
Going forward, IPC TPK will continue to present TJSL programs that focus on increasing community capacity and strengthening collaboration with local stakeholders, as part of its commitment to building a port area that is not only productive, but also safe and sustainable.
