SURABAYA (ISL News) - Loading and Unloading Workers (TKBM) in the Berlian Container Terminal (TPK) work area participated in Basic Life Support (BLS) training and refresher on K3 aspects as a Company initiative to build a K3 culture for all stakeholders, especially for TKBM who work with high potential hazards.
This collaborative activity with stakeholders took place on January 20, 2026, which is a series of commemorations of K3 month which took place from January 12 to February 12, 2026 in accordance with the 2026 theme entitled "Building a Professional, Reliable, and Collaborative National K3 Management Ecosystem".
"National Occupational Health and Safety Month 2026 is a momentum for us to ensure that safety is not just compliance with rules or slogans but a culture that is inherent in every individual in the TPK Berlian work environment," said Burhanudin, Head of the TPK Berlian Terminal in his remarks.
The TKBMs are equipped with knowledge to reduce the risk of work accidents including work safety policies and procedures, the correct use of personal protective equipment, standardization of the “Commander TKBM” hand signal in accordance with ISO OHSAS 18001 which can be applied when guiding loading and unloading equipment operators both on ships and at the dock.
In addition, to create a safe and comfortable working environment, TKBMs are also equipped with knowledge and skills to handle emergencies with Basic Life Support (BLS) training as basic first aid skills so they can respond to emergency situations quickly and effectively.
"We recognize that implementing an OHS culture requires real collaboration from all workers in the Berlian TPK area to minimize occupational risks and achieve the Zero Accident target," Burhanudin continued.
On the same occasion, the TKBM were also provided with knowledge related to Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR) to implement K3 policies in each work unit with 5 (five) principles, namely, identification of hazards and risks, work standards and procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), competency of facilities and infrastructure, and K3 priorities.
"We hope that all TKBM at TPK Berlian can minimize the risk of workplace accidents and ensure the terminal's operations continue to run safely, thus supporting business sustainability and productivity," Burhanudin concluded.
