JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) - Port activities in the Pelindo Regional 2 region recorded positive performance throughout 2025. The flow of ships, containers, and goods showed growth compared to the realization in 2024, in line with increasing logistics activities, trade, and distribution of goods both nationally and internationally.
Pelindo Regional 2 Executive Director Budi Prasetio stated that ship traffic grew 0.08 percent throughout 2025 compared to the previous year. This increase was primarily driven by increased ship calls at several major ports and regional ports.
According to existing data, at Tanjung Priok, the increase in ship traffic occurred due to visits by foreign container ships docking at the JICT, NPCT1, and TPK Koja terminals, as well as international roll-on roll-off ships at IKT along with the increase in vehicle imports.
"In addition, there has been an increase in visits by Indonesian Navy ships, state guest ships, and the registration of ships in anchorage areas as part of the 2025 ship flow," Budi said in a written statement, Tuesday (27/1).
He added that the increase in ship traffic also occurred in other regions, such as Jambi and Pontianak, both at public and non-public docks, along with the increasing activity of liquid bulk vessels, dry bulk vessels, and domestic vessels supporting commodity distribution.
In terms of container flows, performance in 2025 recorded even more significant growth. Budi stated that container flows increased by 6.21 percent compared to 2024 and exceeded the RKAP target of 2.39 percent.
"At Tanjung Priok, container traffic growth was driven by increased international and domestic service volumes at NPCT1, JICT, and TPK Koja, including increased service frequencies and the addition of ad hoc vessels. Growth was also supported by increased domestic container traffic at several multipurpose terminals," he explained.
Positive contributions also came from Panjang and Pontianak ports, which recorded an increase in domestic and international container flows due to increased loading and unloading activities and the expansion of goods distribution to the hinterland.
Meanwhile, non-containerized cargo flows showed the most significant growth. Throughout 2025, actual cargo flows increased by 10.71 percent compared to 2024, primarily driven by increased dry bulk and general cargo loading and unloading activities.
"The increase in freight flow is seen in dry bulk and general cargo activities, while in Pontianak, growth is driven by increased loading and unloading of dry bulk commodities and the start of continuous loading of processed commodities starting in the second half of 2024," he said.
According to him, this achievement reflects the consistent improvement in operational performance, optimization of terminal facilities, and user confidence in port services in Regional 2.
Going forward, Pelindo Regional 2 will continue to strengthen operational efficiency, improve terminal services, and integrate logistics systems to support the smooth flow of goods and ships as part of strengthening the role of ports in the national economy.
