PALEMBANG INDONESIA (ISL News) — PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Palembang has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting sustainable development and environmental awareness by providing assistance for the construction of a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Processing Facility (TPS3R)/Integrated Waste Bank, Waste Sorting Bins, and 1 Plastic Shredding Machine to Ilir Timur II District, Palembang City. This activity is part of the 2025 Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Waste Management Program.
The assistance for the construction of the Integrated Waste Bank/TPS3R (3R Waste Recycling Site) aims to support integrated community-based waste management and increase public awareness of the importance of independent and sustainable waste sorting and management. This facility is expected to reduce the volume of waste ending up in landfills and provide economic value to the surrounding community.
General Manager of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Palembang, represented by the Finance & HR Manager, Imron Syamsi, in his remarks said that the TJSL program in the environmental sector is one of Pelindo's focuses in supporting the creation of a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment in the company's operational areas.
"Through the construction of this TPS3R/Integrated Waste Bank, Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang hopes to make a real contribution to more effective waste management efforts while encouraging active community participation in preserving the environment,"
Head of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control (PPKL), Heni Kurniawati, ST.MT, Palembang City Environmental Service said, "This assistance is certainly very useful for us in helping to reduce the pile of garbage in Palembang City that will be sent to the landfill, perhaps you know how the condition of the pile of garbage at the landfill that we have in Sukawinatan is already quite high, from the central government the waste reduction program is also one of the national programs so this assistance from Pelindo will provide enormous benefits besides that it is also a role in environmental management and also Pelindo's social responsibility towards the community here."
Acting Head of Ilir Timur II Sub-district, Palembang City, Susanto Umar, SKM, M.Si welcomed the assistance and appreciated the support from Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang, which was considered in line with the regional government's program to improve the quality of waste management at the sub-district and village levels.
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang, located in the Ilir Timur II District, which has provided assistance from the TJSL program, namely the construction of a TPS3R / Waste Bank and a plastic shredding machine which will later be used for waste management by the community in the Ilir Timur II District and its surroundings. This is one of the umpteenth forms of assistance from Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang."
