SURABAYA (ISL News) - The unloading of export products sent back to Indonesia due to exposure to Cesium-137 proceeded safely and smoothly.
Agustinus Maun, Head of the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), stated that the unloading was carried out under strict supervision from the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (Bapeten) and several other agencies. Handling was carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures for the carriage of dangerous goods on ships.
Before the container was unloaded, Bapeten conducted a swab test at the highest point of exposure, which found no contamination on the container's outer surface. The Health Quarantine Agency then issued a Certificate of Pratique, and the container was then permitted to be unloaded from the ship for further inspection at the RPM (Residential Quarantine Equipment) facility.
"During these activities, the port was not closed, other container loading and unloading activities continued normally. This was proven at the same time, TPS Surabaya was also carrying out container loading and unloading activities on board the Sinar Sulawesi, CMA CGM Dolomites and SPIL Niken vessels," Agustinus emphasized, last Tuesday (04/11/2025).
