BELAWAN (ISL News) - The Zhejiang Seaport Group delegation paid a business visit to PT Prima Multi Terminal (PMT), a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, at Kuala Tanjung Port, Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra, Thursday (23/10/2025).
The delegation was led by the Chairman of Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Investment & Operation Group Co. Ltd. (ZJSP), Tao Chengbo, and was welcomed by the management of Pelindo Group and PT PMT.
This visit is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding previously signed between Pelindo and Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Investment & Operation Group Co. Ltd. The memorandum forms the basis for strategic cooperation in the development of Kuala Tanjung Port, which is listed as a National Strategic Project (PSN) and projected to become an international logistics hub in western Indonesia.
Acting President Director of PT PMT, Rudi Susanto, stated that the Zhejiang delegation's visit marked a continuation of business communication that had been established since the Pelindo management meeting in Ningbo, China, in October 2023.
"This activity is a follow-up discussion between Pelindo and Zhejiang, which we hope will strengthen strategic cooperation in the development and operation of Kuala Tanjung Port. Zhejiang will bring not only representatives from Ningbo Port but also prospective service users and potential investors interested in business opportunities in this region," said Rudi.
He added that PMT remains committed to maintaining strong communication with global strategic partners to support the development of the national logistics ecosystem. According to Rudi, the presence of international partners like the Zhejiang Seaport Group will accelerate Kuala Tanjung's development as a world-class port integrated with industrial areas and the hinterland in Sumatra.
"We want to ensure that Kuala Tanjung Port becomes an efficient, modern, and competitive logistics hub. PMT will continue to optimize existing operational activities and expand business collaborations not only with existing service users but also with potential new strategic partners," he added.
PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Commercial Director Rima Novianti, who was also present in the group, considered this visit to be an important step in strengthening Pelindo's position on the international stage.
She emphasized the importance of building long-term, mutually beneficial business relationships. "The Zhejiang Seaport Group's visit demonstrates strong interest in Kuala Tanjung's potential as a future port for western Indonesia and the Kuala Tanjung industrial area. We see a significant opportunity to make Kuala Tanjung a new export-import gateway capable of serving international routes directly," Rima said.
Rima also mentioned that the synergy between Pelindo and global partners such as Zhejiang will bring benefits not only to the company, but also to regional and national economic growth.
"With the support of continuously developed infrastructure and the potential of the surrounding industrial areas, Kuala Tanjung is highly attractive to investors. Pelindo is ready to open up broader collaboration opportunities, including in port management, logistics, and supply chain services," he said.
During the visit, the Zhejiang delegation inspected various facilities at Kuala Tanjung Port, managed by PMT, including the container terminal and operational area. The group then proceeded to the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Estate, managed by PT Prima Pembangunan Kawasan (PPK). Also present were representatives from Pelindo Holding, PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik, and the management of PT Prima Multi Terminal.
This visit is expected to be the beginning of a long-term partnership between Pelindo Group and Zhejiang Seaport Group in building an integrated, efficient, and globally competitive port ecosystem.
