MEDAN INDONESIA (ISL News) – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo through Subholding PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT) held a blood donation activity for humanity in order to commemorate the National K3 Month. This activity is a form of concern for occupational health and safety as well as a real contribution in helping people who need blood transfusions.
Currently, awareness of the importance of blood donation needs to be continuously improved, considering that many hospitals are still experiencing blood shortages. Factors such as the low number of active donors and the increasing need for blood due to illness and work accidents are challenges in themselves. Therefore, through this activity, Pelindo Multi Terminal seeks to encourage a culture of blood donation as part of the company's social responsibility.
Pelindo Multi Terminal HR Director, Edi Priyanto, said that this activity is part of the company's social care program which is in line with the principles of occupational safety and health.
"This blood donation activity was held to commemorate the National K3 Month to encourage the health of workers and all blood donor participants, not only that, this activity also aims to provide a valuable contribution in terms of humanity because a drop of blood can save the lives of others," said Edi.
The event held on Thursday (6/2) at Grha Pelindo, Medan, collaborated with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Medan City, involving all Pelindo Group entities and stakeholders around Belawan Port, including work partners and the port community. Wide participation from various parties shows a shared commitment to supporting the health and welfare of workers and the surrounding community.
"We really appreciate the company's initiative in organizing this blood donation activity. The active participation of employees shows high concern for others and helps ensure the availability of blood stock for those in need. Blood donation is not only a noble act, but can also save many lives. We hope that activities like this can continue to be carried out routinely so that it becomes a positive lifestyle to support the resilience of the national blood stock," added PMI Medan City Public Relations, Bayu Lubis.
This activity was attended by 206 registrants and managed to collect 168 blood bags. Donors underwent a health check before donating their blood to ensure the safety and suitability of donors. In the future, Pelindo Multi Terminal will continue to hold programs that support welfare and work safety in order to create a healthy and productive work environment.
