MEDAN INDONESIA (ISL News) – PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT), Subholding PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) in the multipurpose sector, opens opportunities to synergize and collaborate with various parties in port modernization. This step is SPMT's commitment to improving national logistics competitiveness.
"We welcome the participation of various parties to jointly build modern and efficient port infrastructure," said Pelindo Multi Terminal President Director Ary Henryanto, in the National Discussion event "What is the Future of Indonesian Maritime in the New Government Era?" held in Jakarta on Wednesday (2/19/2025).
"This partnership will accelerate port transformation and provide significant benefits to the national economy," said Ary.
He further revealed that logistics costs in Indonesia are still relatively high, influenced by various factors such as transportation costs, warehousing, inventory, and administration. The main challenges faced include: regulation, low efficiency of land and sea value chains, and imbalances in demand and supply.
"Ports play an important role in maritime connectivity. Improving port performance can reduce ship waiting time (port stay), increase sailing time, and ultimately reduce overall logistics costs," said Ary.
For this reason, SPMT is taking two strategic steps to improve services, namely improving port service performance and developing maritime ecosystems. The goal of this strategy is to improve port performance, connectivity, and efficiency of shipping networks, as well as support the reduction of national logistics costs.
Pelindo Multi Terminal as part of Pelindo, also carries out service transformation to reduce port stay time through service standardization and integration of ports and industrial areas.
Integration between industrial areas and ports is essential to create cost efficiency. "We believe that with the collaboration of various parties, we can realize a modern, efficient and globally competitive port," Ary concluded.
