SURABAYA – INDONESIA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) held a Safety Awareness socialization activity for Lasher workers for container ship service activities and Dry Bulk Assistance Workers (TBCK) for dry bulk service activities with a total of 259 participants divided into 7 groups during November 2024, where similar activities were carried out simultaneously by terminals under PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas throughout Indonesia.
The socialization was also attended by representatives from the Harbor Master's Office and the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority, the Board of Directors and Management of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong and representatives of the Navy Cooperative Center (Puskopal) Koarmada II Surabaya as the provider of Lasher and TBCK labor services.
In his speech, Muhamad Syukur, Director of Operations and Engineering of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong said that this activity is very important to know the types of hazard risks in the work area and how to mitigate them for all workers who work in the limited area of the terminal, especially direct operational personnel such as lashers and TBCK. "Safety or safety at work is one of the supporting factors for the smooth operation of a terminal, where unsafe conditions and unsafe actions cause incidents that result in disruption of operational activities and cause losses, therefore good awareness is needed to minimize risks so that incidents do not occur," said M. Syukur.
In this Safety Awareness socialization , all participants gained knowledge about the roles and obligations of Lasher and TBCK workers in complying with safety regulations at work, the dangers and risks of working at the port, the main causes of work accidents, and examples of cases related to safety at the terminal as learning.
On the same occasion, David Pandapotan Sirait, President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong emphasized that work safety is not only important for workers, but also for co-workers and families at home. " Safety First is not just a slogan, but an order that must be obeyed by all workers. A safe work environment will ensure that work runs smoothly and every worker can return home safely," said David.
By holding the Safety Awareness socialization activity to all lasher and TBCK workers, it is hoped that it will be able to increase safety awareness at work so that it can create safe working conditions and achieve Zero Accident at PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, continuing TTL's efforts which have currently achieved Non-Lost Time Injury (NLTI) until October 2024 of 20,825,180 hours.
