MAKASSAR (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 4 recorded a fairly positive consolidated operational performance growth until the period of October 2024 compared to last year. Where Pelindo Regional 4 recorded the flow of goods until October this year reached 64,043,679 Tons/M3 or grew by 80% compared to last year.
According to Executive Director 4 Pelindo Regional 4, Abdul Azis, the quite epic growth was caused by two things, "Namely the increase in loading and unloading activities in the special terminal areas around Samarinda Port and Balikpapan Port, as well as the increase in loading and unloading activities at Parepare Port and Nunukan Port," he explained.
Operational performance that also recorded positive notes came from container flows which until the October 2024 period reached 1,950,266 TEUs or grew by 10% compared to last year.
The cause, said Abdul Azis, was triggered by the increase in the delivery of goods via containers at Samarinda Port and the East Kalimantan Kariangau Terminal (KKT) to supply project needs at the location of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) and for consumer goods needs in the East Kalimantan region.
In addition, the increasing LNG import and export activities using isotank containers at Tarakan Port, the increasing delivery of project goods via containers at Kendari Terminal for the needs of PT IWIP's smelter construction, and the increasing transshipment container activities at Bitung Container Terminal (TPK) have also become the trigger for increasing the performance of Pelindo Regional 4's container flow on a consolidated basis.
Yusida M. Palesang, Division Head of Operational Services of Pelindo Regional 4, added that passenger flow up to the period of October 2024 was also recorded to have grown by 8% or to 5,948,173 people compared to the same period last year.
"This is due to the increasing flow of passenger ship visits at Makassar Port, Parepare Port, Balikpapan Port, Ambon Port, Bitung Port, and Jayapura Port," he said.
Yusida continued, in terms of ship traffic, his party also recorded quite positive performance records until October 2024, namely 373,011,324 GT or growing by 5% compared to last year due to increased activities of general cargo ships and tugboats/barges for activities in the STS Muara Pantai area, Gunung Tabur Bridge and Berau Coal at Pelindo Regional 4 Tanjung Redeb and increased visits by general cargo ships and tugboats/barges as well as the operation of KFT II activities at Pelindo Regional 4 Balikpapan.
"The flow of visits by roro and dry bulk ships as well as the existence of new activities of container ships at Parepare Port, and the increase in ship visits at Sorong Port and Kendari Port also contributed to the increase," explained Yusida.
Towards the end of 2024, Pelindo Regional 4 is optimistic that it can maintain this positive performance in accordance with the targets set by the company's management.
"We hope to close this year with a performance record that is certainly even better," concluded Abdul Azis.
