SURABAYA (ISL News) – Pelindo Sub Regional 3 Java once again received a visit from the cruise ship MS. Viking Orion which docked at Jamrud Pier, Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya. This time there was something different from the previous welcoming which usually only presented Reog Ponorogo dance performances and Kroncong music. Pelindo Regional 3 Sub Regional Java presented a traditional angklung music performance held in the passenger waiting room area, so that tourists who got off the ship and shopped at the UMKM stand could immediately watch the performance.
This traditional angklung music performance was performed by the Pelindo Group Retired Women Community in the Tanjung Perak area of Surabaya. The retired mothers looked enthusiastic inviting tourists to dance and sing together and the tourists looked like they really enjoyed the performance and they did not forget to capture the performance with their smart phones. The songs performed were very varied, ranging from typical Surabaya songs such as Mlaku – Mlaku Nang Tunjungan to a western song entitled My Way. Of course this is very unique and attracts the attention of tourists passing through the area.
The Norwegian-flagged cruise ship with GRT (Gross Tonnage) 47,861 MT and LOA (Length Over All) 228.2 MTR docked at Tanjung Perak Port at 08.00 WIB carrying 783 passengers and 470 crew members.
General Manager of Kalimas and GSN Pelindo Regional 3 Sub Regional Java, Ana Adiliya said that the cruise ship MS. Viking Orion previously docked at Tanjung Emas Port Semarang and will undock at 16.30 WIB today, Monday (11/11) to continue the journey to Benoa Port Bali.
"There are already 8 (eight) cruise ships that have docked at Tanjung Perak Port in 2024 and MS. Viking Orion is the 8th ship and then there will be 4 (four) more ships that dock in early to late December 2024 which will be the end of the year. So in total there are 11 (eleven) cruise ships that dock at Tanjung Perak Port in 2024," said Ana.
To welcome tourists, Pelindo Regional 3 Sub Regional Java has provided various kinds of entertainment in addition to angklung music performances, there are also traditional arts offerings in the form of Reog Ponorogo dance, souvenir shops, and also various typical Indonesian foods and drinks provided through 25 UMKM outlets. There are 15 outlets from Pelindo Regional 3 Sub Regional Java and 10 UMKM outlets from the Surabaya Culture and Tourism Office that sell various kinds of original Indonesian products. There are also money changers to make it easier for tourists to exchange money.
Selena, a tourist from Finland, said that she was very amazed and interested in the traditional angklung performance and she was one of the tourists who sang and danced with the retired Pelindo girls who had been performing since 07.00 WIB.
“I was very impressed with traditional music of Indonesia performance. The music was played very melodiously and made me want to linger here. It is unique how something like bamboo can makes very beautiful music and played by people who are quite old. Besides shopping for lots of batik fabrics and accessories, I also really enjoyed this amazing music performance and so happy can be joined to dancing and singing together. It’s unforgettable moment for me and my friends” ujar Selena wanita berusia 45 tahun yang terlihat antusias menikmati alunan musik angklung.
After exiting the Gapura Surya Nusantara Passenger Terminal area, tourists are directed to continue their tour to historical tourist attractions in East Java, such as traveling to several tourist spots in Surabaya, including Kampung Lawas Maspati, Tugu Pahlawan, and Jalan Tunjungan to the Trowulan Museum. Mojokerto has provided buses and several car units by the tour and travel service to transport foreign tourists. And various other vehicle options are also provided, such as online taxis in collaboration with the Grab company to take tourists around to various destinations.
