Pelindo Regional 3 Serves the Largest Cruise Ship Ever to Stop in Indonesia, Quantum of the Seas

LEMBAR NTB (ISL News)  – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 3 is preparing to welcome the arrival of the world's largest cruise ship, Quantum of the Seas. The arrival of this magnificent ship is a new milestone for Indonesian marine tourism, especially in the West Nusa Tenggara region.


The luxury ship owned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines is scheduled to dock at Gilimas Port on Thursday, November 22, 2024. With an overall length (LOA) of 347 meters, Quantum of the Seas will carry around 4,000 passengers and 1,000 crew members.


General Manager of Pelindo Regional 3 Lembar Kunto Wibisono said, as a form of readiness to welcome the arrival of this cruise ship, Pelindo Regional 3 has made various thorough preparations. The Gilimas passenger terminal facilities are prepared to accommodate cruise ships and are designed to provide comfort for thousands of passengers who will come. Currently, the Gilimas Terminal has a pier length of 440 meters and has a 2-story building with a total area of ​​12,300 m2 on the 1st floor and 2,000 m2 on the 2nd floor and is supported by adequate public areas to anticipate large numbers of passengers.


Passenger disembarkation and embarkation flow has also been designed efficiently to facilitate the process of activities during the arrival and departure of the ship. In addition, Pelindo Regional 3 has also prepared  a  modern mobile gangway to facilitate passenger access to and from the ship.


"We are very enthusiastic to welcome the arrival of Quantum of the Seas. This ship is the largest cruise ship that has ever stopped in Indonesia, and we are proud that Gilimas Port was chosen as its berth," said Kunto Wibisono, General Manager of Pelindo Regional 3 Lembar.


Furthermore, Kunto explained that Pelindo Regional 3 has coordinated intensively with the Harbor Master and Port Authority Office (KSOP), Customs, Immigration Quarantine and related Regional Governments to ensure the smooth arrival of this cruise ship. "We are also working with various parties to provide various supporting services, such as transportation, accommodation, and tourism, for passengers," he added.


The arrival of Quantum of the Seas is expected to have a positive impact on the regional economy. Thousands of international tourists who come will visit various tourist destinations in the West Nusa Tenggara region, so that it can increase the income of the local community.
