SURABAYA (ISL News) – PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL), a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, is accelerating operational services by adding 2 units of Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane (RTGC) loading and unloading equipment in the WSTA Block stacking yard area.
The RTGC is a provision and operation collaboration between TTL and logistics company PT Multi Terminal Indonesia (MTI) to improve services at the Teluk Lamong Terminal.
Two RTGC units owned by PT MTI were relocated from Tanjung Priok to Teluk Lamong Terminal using the 270-foot Fiona 2501 barge and the Trans 58 Tug Boat, taking 10 days from Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta to dock at the domestic pier of Teluk Lamong Terminal on June 23, 2024.
The process of unloading 2 RTGC units from the barge to the side of Teluk Lamong Pier until the RTGC was mobilized from Teluk Lamong Pier to the stacking field/container yard (CY) using a multiaxle tool took 15 days.
TTL President Director, David Pandapotan Sirait explained that the addition of this equipment is part of TTL's strategic initiative to increase the capacity of the stacking yard (unlocking capacity) and support the performance of container loading and unloading. "These 2 RTGCs will later have an impact on reducing the waiting time for berthing or port stay at TTL, so that loading and unloading services become faster and more efficient," he added.
This RTGC is built with modern technology and good energy efficiency. With a gantry rail span of 7+1 rows and a lifting height of 6+1, this tool allows TTL to load and unload up to 7 rows and a height of 5 tiers with a handling capacity of 1,470 TEUs in one run.
The use of RTGC is able to optimize the capacity of the container stacking yard at WSTA with uniform stacking patterns, in addition to being able to increase safety aspects due to container shifting activities.
The addition of modern equipment and the application of sophisticated technology are certainly in line with TTL's intensive business development efforts. Proven in the first semester of 2024, TTL managed to record brilliant performance through ship traffic, container flows and dry bulk goods flows which increased significantly. "This spurs our enthusiasm in providing excellent service to service users," explained David.
Have 10 ASC Units
Teluk Lamong Terminal now has 10 Automated Stacking Crane (ASC) units, 5 Reach Stacker (RS) units, 5 Straddle Carrier (SC) units and 2 RTGC units to support loading and unloading activities in the stacking yard. With the addition of new loading and unloading equipment, it is expected to be able to boost loading and unloading productivity both in the yard and at the dock.
"This is the result of good teamwork between TTL and Pelindo Regional 3, Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, KSOP Utama Tanjung Perak and PT MTI in collaborating from preparation to current operations," explained David.
With the synergy between PT Terminal Teluk Lamong and PT Multi Terminal Indonesia, it is hoped that it can provide benefits for both parties, especially in improving performance, as well as being a manifestation of TTL's commitment to providing excellent service for service users.
