JAKARTA (ISL News) – IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) welcomed 46 participants of Pelindo's Talented Generation Internship (MAGENTA) program on Thursday (September 24th). MAGENTA is a comprehensive internship program initiated by BP BUMN and implemented across all state-owned enterprises in Indonesia to provide space for students and recent graduates to apply academic knowledge to real-world work experiences.
Since 2023, the number of Pelindo MAGENTA participants has reached 2,181 people spread across Indonesia. This field visit is a concrete manifestation of the company's commitment to encouraging young talent to recognize the strategic role of ports in maintaining the smooth running of the national logistics chain, while also internalizing the BUMN work culture from an early age.
IPC TPK Corporate Secretariat Senior Manager, Daniel Setiawan, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the interns. "We warmly welcome the MAGENTA Pelindo participants to the IPC TPK facility. As a container terminal operator, we feel a responsibility to transfer knowledge and introduce the port industry directly to the next generation. We hope that they will not only understand the theory but also see how the smooth flow of goods is maintained by prioritizing operational excellence every day," said Daniel.
The series of activities began with a welcome reception for participants at the Integrated Planning & Control Room. In this digital control center, the young talents received a comprehensive presentation on the terminal's workflow, from ship berthing planning to technology-based loading and unloading processes. After understanding the operational concepts, the visit concluded with a hands-on tour of the Tanjung Priok IPC TPK Terminal Container Yard area, allowing participants to observe the practical implementation of operational planning in the field.
This industry introduction effort aligns with Pelindo's strategic agenda of strengthening transformation to deliver increasingly tangible connectivity, services, sustainability, and impact for Indonesia. This port industry introduction program for interns demonstrates a commitment to the "HR – People Behind the Transformation" initiative, particularly in the area of talent development. The interns' direct involvement in the field is expected to produce superior and adaptive human resources to ensure the transformation is implemented, while also bridging the gap between academia and the real needs of industry for the future port ecosystem.
"We hope this field trip will be a valuable experience, open new horizons, and inspire the young talents of MAGENTA Pelindo. Going forward, the fresh ideas and enthusiasm of this younger generation will carry the baton in continuously improving the efficiency and competitiveness of Indonesian ports at the global level," Daniel concluded.
