SURABAYA (ISL News) – PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) continues to encourage environmental awareness from an early age by supporting a school program promoting environmental awareness and culture in Tambak Osowilangun Village, Surabaya. This support was demonstrated through the handover of a special plastic bottle sorting facility on Tuesday (September 29, 2026).
The assistance was distributed through the Early Childhood Education Mothers Working Group of Tambak Osowilangun Village and was intended for a number of educational institutions, namely KB/TK Mursyidah, SD Mursyidah, MI/RA Al Fatich, and PPT Melati.
It is hoped that the plastic bottle sorting facility will not only help maintain the cleanliness of the school environment, but also become an educational medium for students to recognize types of waste and get used to the behavior of sorting and disposing of waste in its place.
Through simple, consistent practices, students are expected to understand that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. These habits are also expected to be implemented not only at school but also within their families and communities.
Senior Manager of Corporate Secretary and Legal Affairs of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, Syaiful Anam, said that this support is part of the company's concern in fostering environmental awareness and forming positive habits from an early age.
"Schools play a crucial role, not only as a place to acquire academic knowledge, but also as a space to shape students' character and habits. Through the support of this waste sorting facility, we hope that students and the entire school community will become more accustomed to maintaining cleanliness and understand the importance of waste sorting in their daily lives," said Anam.
In addition to developing the habit of maintaining cleanliness, sorting plastic bottles also provides students with an understanding that waste that is managed properly still has utility value and can reduce the potential for environmental pollution.
TTL's collaboration with the Tambak Osowilangun Village PAUD Mothers Working Group is part of the company's commitment to grow with the communities surrounding its operational areas through programs that provide sustainable social and environmental benefits.
Through the involvement of schools, educators, students, and the community, TTL hopes that concern for the environment can grow into a habit and character of the younger generation in creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
