BANDAR LAMPUNG (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo Regional 2 Panjang, supports improving shipping safety and security at Panjang Port. A coordination meeting was held on Ship Accident Prevention and Ro-Ro Vessel Operations at Panjang Port's Multipurpose Terminal in the Akhlak Room on September 24, 2026.
The meeting initiated by the Class I Panjang KSOP Office was also attended by the Head of the Lampung Province Transportation Agency, the Head of the Lampung SAR Office, the Commander of the Lampung Naval Base, the Director of the Lampung Regional Police Water Police, the Head of the Panjang Maritime Meteorology Station, the Head of the Panjang Lampung Port VTS, the Panjang Port Association, and representatives of the Atosim Lampung Pelayaran ship operator.
Head of the Sailing Safety, Guarding and Patrol (KBPP) Division of KSOP Class I Panjang, Abdi Sabda, emphasized the importance of synergy between regulators, port operators, shipping companies, and all maritime elements in ensuring shipping safety.
"Safety at sea is a shared responsibility. Therefore, synergy between regulators, port operators, shipping companies, and all maritime stakeholders must be continuously strengthened. Each party has a role and interrelated responsibilities in preventing ship accidents," said Abdi Sabda.
This activity is part of a joint effort to build a common understanding and take preventive measures to address various potential safety risks in waters and ports. In addition to discussing navigational safety aspects, the coordination also serves as a forum for preparing operational aspects for the operation of RoRo vessel services at Panjang Port.
General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Panjang, represented by Commercial Manager, Ririn Cahyadi, said that safety is a key aspect in every port and shipping activity.
"In principle, we support anything that can improve shipping safety and security at Panjang Port. We are also conducting evaluations to ensure that every aspect related to the RoRo vessel operation plan is well-prepared, coordinated, and prioritizes safety," said Ririn Cahyadi, Commercial Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Panjang.
On this occasion, various aspects became a shared concern, starting from the readiness of ships and port facilities, the condition of the channels and waters, weather information and meteorological conditions, monitoring of ship traffic, service readiness as well as aspects of emergency response and coordination in the event of conditions that require joint handling.
"Safety and security will continue to be our priority in ensuring the smooth operation of port activities. This will be achieved with the joint support of all maritime agencies, port associations, and ship operators within Panjang Port," Ririn concluded.
