BANTEN (ISL News) - PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (PJM) continues to strengthen operational readiness, safety, and service quality through direct field monitoring. This effort was carried out through a Management Walkthrough (MWT) activity conducted by PJM's Director of Operations and Engineering at Banten Port on September 2, 2025, and continued at Panjang Port on September 3, 2025.
Management Walkthrough is part of management's efforts to ensure that operational implementation is carried out according to standards, safety aspects are applied consistently, and supporting service facilities and infrastructure are in a condition that is ready and suitable for use.
During the visit, the Director of Operations and Engineering of PJM directly reviewed a number of operational activities and facilities, while also observing conditions in the field and providing direction regarding improving service quality.
One area of concern is the standardization of operational communications between pilot boats, tugboats, and other related elements. Effective understanding and communication need to be continuously strengthened, particularly in services to foreign vessels. Uniform communication and adherence to procedures are essential to prevent miscommunication and minimize potential complaints from service users.
The readiness and condition of the tugboats were also a focus during the visit. The cleanliness of the vessels, the condition of the facilities, and the readiness of supporting infrastructure must be consistently maintained to ensure smooth and high-quality operational services.
Furthermore, the condition of the guide rest room facilities is also a concern. These facilities must be ensured to be in good condition to support the comfort and readiness of personnel in carrying out their service duties.
From a safety perspective, regular inspections of ship ropes and various operational support equipment are also necessary. Equipment readiness is a crucial factor in ensuring service operations are carried out safely and in accordance with established standards.
At Panjang Port, management has also highlighted the need for dedicated facilities or berthing areas for tugboats. The availability of these facilities is expected to support the effective deployment of tugboats and facilitate smooth port operations.
Meanwhile, at Banten Port, a monitoring system at the planning facility was found to be damaged. This situation requires immediate action to ensure optimal operational monitoring and support decision-making in the field.
In addition to operational aspects, the Director of Operations and Engineering also emphasized the importance of monitoring and controlling ship fuel use. All fuel use must be conducted in an orderly, transparent, and accountable manner to prevent misuse and maintain the company's trust and reputation.
"The use of ship fuel must be carried out in an orderly, transparent, and accountable manner. Proper oversight is essential to prevent misuse and maintain the company's trust and reputation," said PJM's Director of Operations and Engineering.
Through the Management Walkthrough, PJM encourages immediate, concrete action on every finding and directive in the field. This activity also serves as a means to strengthen coordination between management and operational teams to ensure consistent service and safety standards are implemented.
This strengthening of operational readiness is in line with Danantara Indonesia's transformation agenda in encouraging SOEs to improve governance, strengthen operational efficiency and reliability, and create sustainable added value for the company and the national economy.
PJM continues to support Danantara Indonesia's agenda , which focuses on strengthening service quality, operational discipline, safety implementation, and integrity-based governance. These efforts are expected to further strengthen PJM's contribution to the smooth operation of national port and logistics activities.
Management Walkthrough is one of PJM's ongoing steps in building a culture of Safety, Integrity, and Operational Excellence across all service lines, while simultaneously encouraging continuous improvement to provide the best service to service users.
