SURABAYA (ISL News) – PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) recorded container throughput of 128,000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in August 2026, exceeding the company's monthly target of 124,000 TEUs. This positive performance demonstrates TPS's operational performance in maintaining smooth logistics flows amidst the dynamics of global trade.

The August 2026 achievement also reflects a positive trend, with export volumes accounting for a higher share than imports. Export container flow was recorded at 51% (65,000 TEUs), while imports were at 49% (63,000 TEUs). This reflects the continued maintenance of national export activity and the increasing competitiveness of Indonesian products in the international market.

In terms of loading and unloading productivity, TPS recorded an average of 52 boxes/ship/hour, exceeding the minimum standard of 48 boxes/ship/hour set by the Ministry of Transportation through the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP). In addition, TPS succeeded in maintaining its dominant position in the international container market with a market share of 83% at Tanjung Perak Port.

In line with efforts to increase capacity and service quality, TPS has modernized its equipment by adding 4 Electric Quay Container Crane (E-QCC) units and 14 Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry (E-RTG) units. The presence of this electrical equipment not only supports a more environmentally friendly operational program but also improves the reliability and efficiency of the loading and unloading process. By optimizing the use of new equipment, TPS aims to continuously increase operational productivity, accelerate ship and container service times, and provide increasingly competitive services to service users.

TPS Corporate Secretary, Erika A. Palupi, said that this achievement is a form of trust in TPS services from service users.

"The throughput achievement of 128,000 TEUs in August 2026, exceeding the company's target, is a positive indicator for TPS's operational performance. Furthermore, the surplus of export container flows compared to imports demonstrates that international trade, particularly exports, continues to grow and positively contributes to the national economy. TPS will continue to maintain service reliability, increase operational productivity, and support the smooth operation of the national logistics chain on an ongoing basis," he said.
