MAKASSAR (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 4 strengthened efforts to prevent drug abuse among students through the Anti-Drug Education Program for Schools held at SMA Negeri 4 Makassar, Wednesday (9/9/2026).
The activity, which is part of Pelindo's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program in the framework of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, was carried out in collaboration with the Sustainable Impact.ID Foundation and the Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) of South Sulawesi Province.
The principal of SMA Negeri 4 Makassar, Andi Supardin Gading, expressed his appreciation for the school's selection as the program's location. He stated that education about the dangers of drugs is crucial for building understanding and strengthening students' resilience.
"We would like to thank Pelindo, the South Sulawesi Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN), and the Sustainable Impact.ID Foundation for implementing this activity. Programs like this are extremely beneficial because they provide students with a direct understanding of the dangers of drugs and the importance of safeguarding their future," he said.
Andi hopes that students will not only understand the material presented, but also be able to become agents of change who spread positive messages about drug prevention in the school, family, and community environments.
The Head of the South Sulawesi National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Brigadier General Agung Prabowo, who was present as a speaker, emphasized that students are a strategic group in efforts to prevent drug abuse.
According to him, strengthening knowledge from an early age is necessary so that the younger generation can recognize various forms and modes of drug distribution and understand their impact on health, education, social life, and the future.
"The younger generation must have the courage to say no to drugs. Correct knowledge is the first line of defense to prevent students from being easily influenced by invitations or environments that could lead them astray," Agung said.
He added that preventing drug abuse requires joint involvement between the government, schools, families, the business world, and all elements of society.
"Collaboration like Pelindo's is crucial. Efforts to combat drugs cannot be carried out by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) alone; they must be a joint effort implemented consistently and sustainably," he said.
Meanwhile, Division Head of Human Resources and General Services of Pelindo Regional 4, Rinto Saiful, said that the program is a manifestation of the company's concern for human resource development, especially in forming a healthy, resilient, and productive young generation.
"Through this TJSL program, Pelindo wants to contribute to protecting the younger generation from the threat of drugs. Independence should be understood as the freedom to grow, learn, and achieve dreams without the shackles of drug abuse," said Rinto.
He explained that implementing the educational program in the school environment was chosen because educational institutions play a crucial role in shaping character and increasing students' awareness of various social risks.
"We hope that students can become pioneers of the anti-drug movement, starting with themselves and then spreading it to their friends, family, and the surrounding community," he said.
Rinto added that Pelindo will continue to encourage the implementation of TJSL programs that provide real benefits to communities around the company's operational areas.
Through collaboration with stakeholders, Pelindo is committed to supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals, particularly in the fields of education, health, and strengthening the quality of Indonesia's young generation.
