JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) — Trucking is a crucial part of logistics operations at Tanjung Priok Port. With the high volume of vehicles in the port area, road safety is an aspect that needs to be continuously strengthened.
PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Tanjung Priok held a 2026 Truck Driving Safety Training (TSA) for truck drivers operating around the Tanjung Priok Port area. Themed "Safe Driving, Comfortable Productivity," the event is part of an effort to build safety awareness among the port community.
A total of 631 drivers participated in the training. Of those, 531 participated in Truck Safety Awareness (TSA), while 100 others participated in Truck Safety Awareness Lite (TSA Lite), which is intended for port assistants and prospective new truck drivers.
This training is part of the 2026 Safety and Occupational Health and Safety Training Program for Port Communities in Tanjung Priok Region 2. Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok collaborates with PT PMLI and involves the North Jakarta Police Traffic Unit and the Tanjung Priok Port Operations Office (KSOP) as training partners.
Present at the event were Wim Pondang Parulian Hutajulu, Head of the Traffic and Sea Transportation Division of the Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief of Staff, and IPDA Suhendra, Head of the Safety Unit of the Tanjung Priok Port Police. The involvement of KSOP and police strengthens collaboration in promoting traffic safety and order in the port area.
The material covered the theory and practice of truck driving safety, traffic etiquette, handling road emergencies, and an introduction to risk zones in port areas. Participants also participated in light stimulation, a question-and-answer session, case studies, and evaluations.
Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok Executive General Manager Yandri Trisaputra said that driving safety needs to become a habit that is inherent in operational activities, not just understood as a rule.
"In the port area, vehicle traffic is quite high, and every driver has a responsibility to ensure safety. Not only their own safety, but also that of their colleagues and other road users. Therefore, awareness of safe driving must become a habit in carrying out their work," said Yandri.
According to Yandri, the training also served as a reminder to drivers about the various risks inherent in port areas. Understanding the characteristics of the port work environment is crucial for drivers to make informed decisions in the field.
Through this training, Pelindo aims to improve driver discipline and responsibility while reducing the potential for traffic incidents and accidents. Driver and worker safety is expected to go hand in hand with smooth port operations.
It is hoped that this program will continue to be developed as part of efforts to build a sustainable safety culture within Tanjung Priok Port. Pelindo prioritizes safety as a foundation for ensuring smooth logistics and transportation activities within the port area.
