JAKARTA (ISL News) - Port activities in the Pelindo Regional 2 working area showed growth until August 2026. A number of operational indicators recorded an increase compared to the same period the previous year, ranging from ship visits, container flow, non-containerized goods flow, to passenger flow.
This increase is in line with Danantara's strategic direction in encouraging the strengthening of performance, productivity, and optimization of company operations.
On a consolidated basis, ship calls up to August 2026 were recorded at 42,696 calls, an increase of around 2.4 percent compared to 41,691 calls in the same period in 2025. Growth was also seen in container flows which reached 6.48 million TEUs, up around 3.7 percent from 6.25 million TEUs in the previous year.
Executive Director 2 of Pelindo Regional 2, Budi Prasetio, said that the growth in a number of indicators shows that activity at Regional 2 ports remains positive amidst the dynamics of trade and logistics.
"This growth demonstrates that port activities in Region 2 are continuing and growing. This is also in line with Danantara's strategic direction to continuously improve the company's performance and productivity," said Budi.
In addition to containerized cargo flows, non-containerized cargo flows also recorded growth. By August 2026, volumes reached 41.64 million tons, an increase of approximately 10 percent compared to 37.86 million tons in the same period in 2025.
This increase was supported by, among other things, increased loading and unloading activities in a number of branches, including liquid bulk, dry bulk, and general cargo commodities.
Growth also occurred in passenger traffic. As of August 2026, the number of passengers served reached 1.08 million, an increase of approximately 32 percent compared to 816,705 passengers in the same period the previous year. The increase was primarily in domestic passenger traffic, which reached 1.07 million.
Budi added that the increase in traffic was inseparable from community activities and the movement of commodities in various areas served by Pelindo Regional 2. A number of branches also recorded growth along with increased trading activities, distribution of goods, and community mobility.
"We see this growth as part of the economic movement in our Regional 2 service area. Therefore, we continue to strengthen coordination with all stakeholders so that port services can keep up with the evolving needs of service users, while also supporting the company's strategic direction," said Budi.
On the other hand, increased traffic is also visible at several ports. At Tanjung Priok, for example, consolidated container throughput reached 5.88 million TEUs through August 2026, an increase of approximately 9.1 percent compared to the same period in 2025. Non-containerized cargo throughput also increased to 15.85 million tons, representing an increase of approximately 16.4 percent.
Growth was also recorded in several other ports. Panjang Port recorded a 24.5 percent increase in container throughput to 91,458 TEUs and a 22.8 percent increase in non-containerized cargo throughput to 5.49 million tons.
Meanwhile, in Pontianak, the flow of non-containerized goods increased significantly to 4.42 million tons, or grew by around 81 percent compared to the previous year.
According to Budi, this achievement is an encouragement for Pelindo Regional 2 to continue to improve the quality and consistency of services.
"The most important thing isn't just traffic growth, but how that growth is accompanied by improved service. We will continue to make improvements and maintain the reliability of port operations," Budi concluded.
