JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) - With the support of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PT PELNI) and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo have opened a Joint Humanitarian Aid Post for earthquake-affected communities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) at Tanjung Priok Port. The post is part of a collaboration to facilitate agencies and institutions in sending humanitarian aid via PELNI ships to NTT.
For Pelindo, the presence of the post also strengthens the port's function as a logistics hub, including when needed to support disaster relief. Pelindo supports the receipt and movement of aid within the port area through the port facilities and services available for transportation using PELNI passenger ships, which receive a 100 percent discount on cargo rates.
Acting Head of the Tanjung Priok Main Class KSOP, Kurniawan, stated that the Central Government, along with PELNI and Pelindo, are ready to ensure the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid to NTT.
"The government is providing full support to ensure the successful implementation of the humanitarian aid program for our brothers and sisters in NTT. Providing a 100 percent discount on cargo fares on PELNI passenger ships is a form of support in special situations such as disasters," said Kurniawan.
Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok Executive General Manager Yandri Trisaputra said the Joint Post was established so that various parties wishing to help could distribute aid through a coordinated channel.
"Pelindo, along with the Port Authority (KSOP), and PELNI, has set up a Joint Humanitarian Aid Post at Tanjung Priok Port as a collaborative effort to accelerate disaster management in NTT. We encourage agencies, institutions, and communities wishing to distribute aid to utilize this post. Pelindo will support the smooth process of receiving and delivering aid through port facilities and services, ensuring prompt distribution to those in need," said Yandri.
Head of the PELNI Jakarta Branch, Muhammad Ardiansyah, also expressed his appreciation to the Government, especially the Ministry of Transportation, for its support for the humanitarian aid delivery program.
"We are deeply grateful to the Indonesian government and Ministry of Transportation for granting this exemption from cargo tariffs to alleviate the suffering of disaster victims in NTT. We also appreciate the agencies and institutions that have entrusted the delivery of their aid via PELNI ships," said Ardiansyah.
Ardiansyah invited other agencies and institutions that wish to utilize the free aid delivery facility to distribute their aid through the Joint Post which can be found at the Nusantara Terminal of Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta.
The next ship heading to Maumere from Tanjung Priok Port is KM Tidar on August 29, 2026, with an estimated arrival in Maumere on September 2, 2026. Agencies and institutions wishing to send aid can submit aid items to the port according to the schedule.
Through collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation, KSOP, Pelindo, and various agencies and institutions, PELNI is committed to supporting the smooth distribution of humanitarian aid to earthquake-affected communities in NTT through PELNI's maritime connectivity.
