NORTH SULAWESI (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo is once again taking part in the BUMN Volunteer Service Program (RBB) for Indonesia. In RBB Batch IX, Pelindo is one of the PICs implementing the program in Langowan, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, presenting a series of activities in the fields of education, environment, agricultural and MSME empowerment, and public health which will be held on August 16–19, 2026.
As an agricultural region, Langowan has strong agricultural potential, particularly in tomatoes and chilies, supported by the potential of MSMEs, natural resources, and human resources. Through the RBB (Regional Development Plan), this potential is strengthened through an interconnected approach, ranging from education and human resource development, environmental conservation, to strengthening agriculture and MSMEs as drivers of the local economy.
The program was also attended by Tony Andrianto, Director of the Office of the Board of PT Danantara Asset Management, and Teddy Barata, Deputy Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Agency (BP BUMN). Their presence reflected their support for cross-SOE collaboration to deliver sustainable benefits to the community.
"This is a concrete manifestation of the presence of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in providing benefits to the community. I express my appreciation and gratitude to SOEs and the volunteers who have taken the time to be directly present in the community, working together, and carrying out their duties and missions," said Tony Andrianto.
In line with this, Deputy Head of BP BUMN Teddy Barata emphasized the importance of the direct presence of BUMN personnel in the community to understand regional needs and be part of the solution.
"The BUMN Volunteer Service program is part of President Prabowo's directive to ensure that SOEs are present and become part of the community. SOEs are expected to be one of the driving forces of the Indonesian economy. Through this program, SOE workers have the opportunity to be directly involved in the community, understand their needs, and build collaborations to be part of the solution for Indonesia," said Teddy.
Pelindo's Institutional Director, Hendri Ginting, said that as one of the PICs of RBB Batch IX in Langowan, Pelindo strives to ensure that the programs implemented not only address current community needs, but also provide benefits that can continue to grow after the activities end.
"Through the BUMN Volunteer Service, we want to be present and work with the community. Therefore, our activities address various interrelated aspects, from education and the environment to health, to strengthening agriculture and MSMEs as part of Langowan's economic potential," said Hendri.
The four-day RBB Langowan series involved 10 volunteers from various state-owned enterprises. The volunteers brought their professional experience and competencies to share directly with the community through educational activities, mentoring, and social action.
In education, volunteers run the Volunteer Teaching program at Langowan 05 Middle School, Raranon Small Elementary School, and Langowan 02 Middle School. In addition to sharing inspiration and introducing students to various professions, the program also includes revitalizing libraries and school facilities to support the creation of better learning spaces.
In terms of environmental aspects, activities focused on the Tondano River Basin (DAS) area, planting 500 mahogany trees and installing environmental education materials. These activities are part of efforts to preserve the area and raise awareness about the importance of sustainable environmental protection.
Meanwhile, local economic support is provided by working directly with farmers in seeding, planting tomato seedlings, harvesting, and sorting and packaging agricultural produce. Volunteers also support MSMEs by activating and strengthening tenant branding at Taman Cita Waya to further develop local business potential.
Community health and social aspects are also part of the program through basic health checks, nutrition education, and health support for toddlers, pregnant women, and the elderly in Tumaratas Village.
The implementation of RBB Batch IX also coincided with the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence. Volunteers and the community participated in the independence ceremony and unfurled the 81-meter-long Red and White Flag at Schwarz Field. The community bond was further strengthened through an introduction to local culture, including learning and practicing the Kabasaran Dance with a local studio.
Hendri hopes that the spirit of "Sowing Hope in Tanah Langowan" can continue to live on through the knowledge, facilities, seeds, learning spaces, and networks that have been built with the community during the program's implementation.
"Our hope is that after the volunteers return to their respective assignments, what they left behind in Langowan will continue to be a continuous activity. From classrooms, agricultural land, watershed areas, to community business spaces, we hope that what we have started together can continue to be maintained and developed. Because for Pelindo, being present for Indonesia means ensuring that regional potential can grow and provide long-term benefits," Hendri concluded.
