PATIMBAN INDONESIA (ISL News) – Container services at Patimban Port have been expanded. The MV Sinar Bintan, operating the ONE–Samudera service, made its maiden call at the Patimban Port Container Terminal on August 10–11, 2026. The service marks a new development in strengthening Patimban Port's connectivity and expanding service options for users.
MV Sinar Bintan, flying the Singapore flag with an overall length (LOA) of 147 meters and Gross Tonnage (GT) of 12,563, arrived at Patimban Port from Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang, and docked on August 10, 2026.
During its maiden visit, the ship loaded 95 boxes, or 190 TEUs, of automotive spare parts and pulp and paper products. After completing the loading, the MV Sinar Bintan departed Patimban Port on August 11, 2026, at 8:54 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) to continue its voyage to Singapore.
The MV Sinar Bintan's maiden visit coincided with the service of the MV MSC Independent III, a Portuguese-flagged container ship with a LOA of 208.90 meters and a gross tonnage of 26,435. The ship is part of MSC's routine container service at Patimban Port and on this visit served the route from Singapore to Pasir Gudang, Malaysia. The MV MSC Independent III docked on August 10, 2026, and continued its service activities at Patimban Port on August 11, 2026.
Two container ships can now be served simultaneously at Patimban Port. The MV MSC Independent III and the MV Sinar Bintan are currently moored at different berths at the Patimban Port Container Terminal. This represents a significant improvement in terminal operations, as ship visits and shipping services using Patimban Port increase.
Head of the Patimban Class II KSOP Office, Mohd Arief Agustian, said that the increase in shipping services is an important part of the development of Patimban Port as a logistics hub that is increasingly connected to the shipping network.
"The introduction of the ONE–Samudera service is a positive development for Patimban Port. We want to continue to encourage not only an increase in the number of incoming vessels, but also a wider range of service and connectivity options for our customers," said Arief.
According to him, the simultaneous operation of two container ships also demonstrates the development of the terminal's operational activities.
"This may be a common sight at mature ports, but for Patimban, it's a significant development. It means terminal activity is starting to grow and existing infrastructure is increasingly being utilized to serve growing operational needs," he continued.
Patimban Port previously served a number of international and domestic container services. The addition of the ONE–Samudera service further expands connectivity and provides alternative logistics services for industry and service users, particularly in West Java and the Patimban Port hinterland. The export loading during the MV Sinar Bintan's maiden visit also demonstrates the service's utilization in supporting the movement of industrial commodities from Indonesia to international markets.
KSOP Class II Patimban together with port business entities, terminal operators, shipping companies, and related stakeholders will continue to encourage improvements in port services in line with the development of shipping traffic and services at Patimban Port.
