JAKARTA (ISL News) – Today, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Postgraduate Building, 3rd Floor, Building C, Trisaksi Institute of Transportation and Logistics (ITL), Faculty of Management and Business, Mr. MHD. Taris Hasibuan was declared a graduate with a DOCTORAL degree in Transportation Management.
At the Open Doctoral Promotion Session which started at 09.00 to 12.00 WIB, MHD Taris Hasibuan presented a dissertation entitled Analysis of the Role of Risk Assessment, Compliance with the ISM Code and ISPS Code on Maritime Risk and Safety.
The Doctoral Promotion Session of MHD. Taris Hasibuan who has NIM 22C713001024, was led or chaired by Prof. Dr. Capt. HM Thamrin, MM., with Examiners Dr. Lira Agusinta, SE, MM, Dr. Capt. Fausta Air Barata, MM., as Promoters, Prof. Ir. H. Edi Abdurachman, S., M.Sc.,Ph.D. and as Co-Promoter I, by Dr. Sandriana Marina, AMTrU, MM. Co-Promoter II by Prof. Sudjanadi Tjipto Sudarmo, SE, MBA, APU.
Present at the Open Doctoral Promotion Session were Mr. Fourmansyah, SH, MM, MH , Head of the Class 1 Tanjung Priok PLP Base (Pangkalan PLP Kelas 1 Tanjung Priok), Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (Direktorat Jenderl Perhubungan Laut RI), along with all staff, as well as partners, extended family and media friends.
In his remarks, Formansyah stated that the theme of Dr. MHD. Tharis Hasibuan's dissertation was highly relevant to the Directorate General of Sea Transportation's duties and functions in ensuring navigational safety and maintaining maritime and coastal security.
"For ship safety, it is not only necessary to look at the ISM Code Certificate and ISPS Code Documents held, but it must also be accompanied by compliance monitoring by looking at the vision of the shipping company's management, the condition of the ship and the compliance or behavior of the ship's crew in the field," said Fourmansyah.
"Congratulations and success to our brother, Mr. MHD. Tharis Hasibuan, who has contributed through his doctoral dissertation in Transportation Specialty Management. His contributions and insights will undoubtedly continue to grow as a contribution to national shipping safety," said Formansyah.
On that occasion, Dr. MHD Tharis Hasibuan also expressed his gratitude to all related parties for all their support during his three-year doctoral studies, leading to the successful completion of his doctoral dissertation.
"What I have presented in this doctoral dissertation certainly has many limitations, and I will certainly continue to develop it as part of my academic contribution to improving national shipping safety," said Dr. MHD Tharis Hasibuan.
