SURABAYA ( ISL News ) – PT Pelindo Marine Service (Pelindo Marine) supports the smooth arrival of modern loading and unloading equipment imported by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) until July 2026. The equipment includes 4 units of Quay Container Crane (QCC) and 14 units of Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) for PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), as well as 2 units of QCC and 4 units of RTG for PT Prima Multi Terminal (PMT) Belawan. The presence of this equipment is part of Pelindo Group's efforts to increase capacity, productivity, and quality of port services to support the smooth flow of national logistics.

As part of the heavy equipment distribution process via sea routes, Pelindo Marine plays a role in ensuring the smooth process of delaying and docking QCC and RTG transport vessels so that all stages of moving, unloading, and placing equipment can run safely, on time, and in accordance with operational safety standards.

PT Pelindo Marine Service's Commercial, Operations, and Engineering Director, Elvin Syah Putra, said the success of the QCC docking in Belawan and Surabaya was supported by the fleet's readiness. In the activity, the 2,000 HP tugboats KT. Hang Tuah II and KT. Hang Tuah III supported the towing process in Belawan, while the 3,000 HP tugboat KT. Jayanegara 305 led the towing at Tanjung Perak. "In addition to being supported by a reliable fleet, we also ensure the competence of our personnel to ensure smooth operations and provide safe, reliable, and timely port services," said Elvin.

Increasing port capacity through equipment and facility upgrades has also attracted attention from national shipping industry players. Carmelita Hartoto, Chairwoman of the Indonesian National Shipowners' Association (INSA), emphasized the importance of synergy among all stakeholders to address the ever-increasing flow of goods. "Port infrastructure, equipment, and operational systems must be continuously updated to optimize national logistics distribution," she said.

The addition of a QCC and RTG in Belawan, to be operated by PT Prima Multi Terminal (PMT), is expected to increase terminal productivity and accelerate container services. Wahyudi, Director of Operations and Engineering at PT Prima Multi Terminal, said, "The addition of this QCC and RTG is a strategic step to anticipate the growth in container volume in Belawan. With the support of more modern equipment, we are optimistic that we can increase terminal productivity and accelerate ship and cargo services."

Meanwhile, Topo Sapto Nugroho, Technical Director of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya, explained that the increase in terminal capacity was achieved through equipment modernization and asset optimization. "In addition to bringing in new equipment to improve productivity and operational reliability, we also relocated two Quality Control (QCC) units from the TPS to the Berlian Container Terminal as part of our efforts to optimize service capacity and strengthen readiness for the growth in container traffic," he explained.

Pelindo Marine's collaboration with terminal operators in Tanjung Perak and Belawan not only supports increased national logistics efficiency and the competitiveness of Indonesian ports, but is also strengthened by the planned phased arrival of 39 new loading and unloading equipment. This additional equipment is expected to further enhance the quality of container terminal services at several major ports in Indonesia.
