JAKARTA (ISL News) – Recognizing the importance of strategic information partners for the company, PTP Nonpetikemas, part of the Pelindo Group, held the PortPress 2026 journalistic competition at the Auditorium of the National Library of Indonesia, Jakarta, on Wednesday (July 29). With the theme "Ports Drive Logistics, Boost Regional Economies," the competition is part of the company's commitment to fostering informative, educational, and impactful journalistic work.

PTP Nonpetikemas President Director, Indra Hidayat Sani, said that the media is the company's strategic partner in presenting credible information and building public trust in the port industry.

"Every journalistic work plays a role in shaping public understanding. We appreciate the dedication of media personnel who have conveyed objective and high-quality information about the port sector. This well-designed journalism competition has proven to be able to strengthen collaboration and expand the impact of the maritime sector on the wider community, supporting the advancement of the national logistics industry," said Indra.

The report on the implementation of the 2026 PTP Non-container PortPress Journalism Competition was delivered directly by the Senior Manager of Corporate Secretary of PTP Non-container, Fiona Sari Utami.

"Behind every activity of loading, unloading, and distributing goods lies a story about connectivity, industrial growth, community welfare, and regional development that deserves to be known by the public. This is reflected in the 212 entries from 84 media outlets, with 114 journalistic pieces and 98 photojournalism entries received during the competition," Fiona explained.

Participants attended a discussion forum and capacity building session featuring various speakers from the port, logistics, media, and communications sectors. The discussion titled "Ports in the Spotlight: Building Port Reputation Through Strategic Communication" presented the President Director of PTP Non-container Indra Hidayat Sani, Head of Operations Meratus Line Heri Cahyono, Kompas Photographer Agus Susanto, Editor-in-Chief of IDN Times Uni Lubis, Chair of the Emtek Media Editor-in-Chief Forum Retno Pinasti, and Director of Strategic Affairs of Bisnis Indonesia Group Maria Yuliana Benyamin. Meanwhile, the session "AI for Media & Communication: Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)" presented by Founder & CEO of DailySEO.ID, Ilman Akbar, provided insights into the use of artificial intelligence in supporting communication and publication in the digital era.

In an effort to strengthen corporate communications, Pelindo Group has taken various strategic steps, one of which is by providing appreciation to fellow journalists, as previously held at the 2023 Pelabuhan Indonesia Award (PIA) event. Now, PTP Nonpetikemas reaffirms this commitment by holding PortPress 2026.

"This PortPress activity is a form of the company's contribution to quality journalism, because the most effective way to measure it is through a journalism competition. This strengthens the company's position in supporting media outlets to expand the port's function. Relationships with the media must be built like relationships between people. Furthermore, strengthening communication efforts can be done by building a loyal community, especially from young people as a potential community. During a crisis, the community and communication we have built organically will stem the potential crisis," said IDN Times Editor-in-Chief, Uni Lubis.

Supporting this statement, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Editor-in-Chief Forum and Editor-in-Chief of EMTEK Media, Retno Pinasti, also provided an explanation regarding the perspective of PTP Non-container in facing the media in the current era of information acceleration.

"This demonstrates how PTP Nonpetikemas embraces the paradigm of the relationship between companies and the media as a strategic information partnership, providing transparency in data and information, and providing journalists with the opportunity to directly access sources through port visits throughout its work area during the competition period. This ensures that companies don't only seek out media outlets during times of crisis," Retno said during the discussion.

"The competition's judging process in the photography category reinforced my perspective, particularly regarding port photography. The judging process not only looked at visual aesthetics but also focused on the Health and Safety (HSSE) aspects. This presents a unique challenge for journalists participating in port visits," said Agus Susanto, one of the competition's judges.

The series of events then continued with the award ceremony for the winners of the two main categories. In the written work category, the feature news subcategory, 1st place was won by Muhammad Syahri Romdhon from Kompas, followed by Ira Guslina Sufa from Katadata as 2nd place, and Arifin Al Alamudi from IDN Times as 3rd place. Meanwhile, in the hard news subcategory, 1st place was won by Rasyid Ridho from Kompas, 2nd place was won by Anton Chrisbiyanto from Kabar Indo, and 3rd place was won by Rendi Fadilah from Sumatera Ekspres.

PortPress 2026 not only honored written works, but also recognized the best journalistic photographers. In the photography category, Hendrivan Gumala of Lampung Post won first place, Usman Iskandar of Media Indonesia took second place, and Fitra Yogi of Antara News took third place. In addition to the top winners, PTP Nonpetikemas also selected 16 favorite works, the cumulative results of all written and photography categories.

The PortPress initiative reflects PTP Nonpetikemas' commitment to continuously strengthening relationships with the media and building a positive communications ecosystem for the port sector. Through quality journalistic work, the company hopes to increase public understanding of the strategic role of ports in supporting smooth logistics, strengthening connectivity, and driving national economic growth.
