KUPANG INDONESIA (ISL News) – Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Kupang (TPK Kupang) recorded a positive growth trend in its operational performance in the second quarter of 2026. Based on performance evaluation data, container loading and unloading flows at TPK Kupang in the second quarter of 2026 reached 65,525 TEUs. This achievement shows a significant increase compared to the first quarter of 2026, which was recorded at 31,298 TEUs, and surpassed last year's performance in July 2025, which was at 60,402 TEUs.
In addition to the growth in freight flows, ship service efficiency is also well maintained. The Box Ship per Hour (BSH) value, or the speed of loading and unloading containers per ship per hour, was recorded at 25.00 BSH in the second quarter of 2026. This figure represents a significant increase in productivity compared to the 24.02 BSH achieved in the first quarter of 2026 and is steadily approaching the July 2025 performance of 25.11 BSH.
TPK Kupang Terminal Head, Andhik Wahyu Kristianto, expressed his appreciation for this achievement, which is the result of close collaboration between terminal managers, the commitment of the team in the field, and strong synergy with logistics players and shipping lines.
"The growth in container throughput, reaching 65,525 TEUs in the second quarter, reflects the continuing improvement in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region. The increase in loading and unloading productivity to 25,000 BSH also demonstrates that the standardization and digitalization of our services are working optimally to reduce ship port stays," said Andhik Wahyu Kristianto.
Similar appreciation also came from key strategic partners operating container ship fleets at NTT's main hub port.
Head of PT Tanto Intim Line Kupang Branch, Hildus Seran Bau, revealed that increasing service speed at the dock has had a very positive impact on the efficiency of shipping operational costs.
"We have truly felt the positive impact of the stable loading and unloading speed (BSH) at the Kupang Port, which is maintained at 25.00. This speed of service significantly helps us maintain ship schedule reliability, allowing for faster and more efficient movement of goods to and from Kupang," said Hildus Seran Bau.
Meanwhile, the Head of PT Suntraco Inti Makmur Kupang Branch, Rudy Irawan, emphasized the importance of consistent service to support the smooth flow of regional logistics.
"The sharp increase in container throughput in the second quarter is a positive signal for the business world. We appreciate the readiness of the facilities and operational readiness of the Kupang Port Authority (TPK). This synergy must be maintained to ensure the smooth distribution of basic necessities and construction materials to all corners of NTT without operational constraints at the port," explained Rudy Irawan.
