BANDAR LAMPUNG (ISL News) - Panjang Container Terminal (IPC TPK) recorded a stellar performance in mid-2026, posting a 73.7% surge in container throughput in June 2026 compared to the same period the previous year. This significant increase was driven by high trade activity in the Lampung region and its surroundings, reflected in the rapid growth of international container traffic for exports and imports, as well as strengthening logistics interconnections for the domestic sector.
"This growth confirms Panjang Port's increasingly strategic role as the main gateway for goods flow in the southern part of Sumatra Island. The extraordinary surge in container throughput in June is a concrete result of the company's commitment to adaptively responding to logistics market dynamics," said Daniel Setiawan, Senior Manager of the IPC TPK Corporate Secretariat.
The main factors driving the surge in volume were specifically the addition of an ad hoc vessel by Pulau Laut Lines, which successfully addressed the need for international transport capacity, and the launch of a new service by PT Buaya Mas Prima, which directly increased domestic inter-island container traffic. This operational success was fully supported by the reliability of the terminal's loading and unloading system and close collaboration between IPC TPK, shipping partners, and all port stakeholders.
"We hope that the expansion of the shipping network from these partners will spur sustainable regional economic growth, while strengthening IPC TPK Panjang's contribution to facilitating a smooth supply chain at the southern Sumatra logistics gateway," Daniel concluded.
