SURABAYA (ISL News) – Amid the increasingly complex global supply chain, container terminals are no longer merely loading and unloading points, but rather strategic hubs that determine the smooth flow of logistics, both nationally and internationally. To address this challenge, PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) is presenting firsthand perspectives from global shipping industry players through the 2026 CSR Practitioner Teaching program.
The program entitled “Understanding Supply Chain Logistics From The Shipping Line Perspective” presents a resource person, GUNAWAN, S.Pi., SH, MM, Branch Manager of the global shipping company CMA CGM Surabaya, who shares practical insights on the logistics supply chain from the shipping line perspective.
This activity was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 09.00–12.00 WIB, at the Toba Meeting Room, TPS Customer Service Building, 2nd Floor.
This program was attended by dozens of TPS internal interns from various departments, including HR and General Affairs, Information Technology, Finance and Risk Management, HSSE, Operations, and Commercial and Management Systems. Through this session, participants not only gained conceptual understanding but also applied insights on how shipping lines view terminal performance as a key factor in maintaining schedule reliability, logistics cost efficiency and global connectivity. Participants are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of modern supply chain practices , especially the important role of shipping companies and container terminals such as TPS in supporting the smooth flow of global goods. TPS plays a significant role in the supply chain ecosystem , especially in ensuring service reliability which is a key consideration for international shipping companies in determining their logistics routes and hubs. Synchronization between terminals and shipping lines is crucial to maintaining national logistics competitiveness amidst the dynamics of global trade.
In a sharing session, Gunawan explained how the dynamics of the global shipping industry, operational challenges, and integrated logistics management strategies are key factors in maintaining supply chain efficiency. This perspective is considered highly relevant to container terminal operations, which are crucial nodes in the national logistics ecosystem.
TPS Corporate Secretary, Erika Asih Palupi, said that the Teaching Practitioner program is part of the TJSL initiative which aims to broaden the insights of company employees through collaboration with experienced industry practitioners.
"Through this program, TPS hopes to enrich the interns' knowledge with direct insights from industry players, thereby improving the company's capabilities and competitiveness in facing global logistics challenges," said Erika.
The active participation of participants in this activity also demonstrates TPS's commitment to continuously promote a culture of continuous learning and adaptation to industrial developments.
Going forward, TPS will continue to present similar programs with various strategic themes to support the development of superior and highly competitive human resources in the port and logistics sector.
