SAMPIT, KALIMANTAN, INDONESIA (ISL News) - Loading and unloading activities at the Bagendang Bumiharjo Container Terminal (TPK) continued as normal on International Labor Day (May Day) on Friday (May 1, 2026). Despite the momentum associated with labor issues, terminal operations ran smoothly thanks to the synergy between port operators and stevedoring workers.
This smooth operation is due in large part to the collaboration between the Pelindo Group and the Karya Bahari Sampit Stevedoring and Unloading Labor Cooperative (TKBM), which continues to maintain stable logistics flows in Central Kalimantan. Field operations continue at a steady pace, ensuring uninterrupted distribution of goods.
Terminal Head of TPK Bagendang Bumiharjo, Akhmad Fajar, said that good coordination between all parties is the main key to maintaining terminal productivity.
"The synergy built over time ensures operations continue to run smoothly, even during times like Labor Day. This is a crucial foundation for driving optimal loading and unloading performance," he said.
Nurhadi, Chairman of the Sampit Karya Bahari TKBM Services Cooperative, echoed this sentiment. He emphasized the workforce's readiness to support the smooth operation of the port.
"We ensure that all workers are ready to carry out their duties effectively, ensuring the flow of logistics to the public remains secure," he said.
On the other hand, the May Day commemoration also served as a momentum to strengthen workplace safety culture. The management of TPK Bagendang Bumiharjo held a Safety Stand Down event attended by workers and business partners within the terminal area.
This activity temporarily halted operations to provide space for education and evaluation regarding the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (K3). Workers received training on identifying potential hazards, using personal protective equipment, and emergency response procedures.
Management believes this step is crucial to ensure that all workers have a shared understanding of safety standards. This will minimize the potential risk of workplace accidents while maintaining safe and productive operational continuity.
This effort is also part of the company's commitment to instilling a "safety first" culture in the workplace, with a long-term target of achieving zero accidents.
With operations continuing as normal and occupational safety measures strengthened, the Bagendang Bumiharjo Port Authority (TPK) is demonstrating its role in ensuring smooth logistics flows while ensuring protection for workers in the port sector.
