PALEMBANG INDONESIA (ISL News) – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Palembang demonstrated its commitment to supporting the increase in exports of superior regional commodities through the Initial Export Release of Coconut and Black Pepper Derivative Products which was held at the Non-Container PTP Pier of Boom Baru Port, Palembang.
This activity was attended directly by the Governor of South Sumatra Province, H. Herman Deru, Head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency represented by the Head of the Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Center (BBKHIT) of North Sumatra, Head of the OJK of South Sumatra Province, Chair of HIPMI South Sumatra and General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang, Head of the Regional Office of the Director General of Treasury of South Sumatra, Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency of South Sumatra, Head of the Regional Office of Customs and Excise, Head of BKHIT South Sumatra, KSOP Class I Palembang, LANAL Palembang, Port Association, Branch Manager of PT PTP Palembang Branch, Area Manager of PT IPC TPK Palembang Area, Financial Services Business Actors, Entrepreneurship Figures and Heads of OPD in South Sumatra.
The export of coconut derivatives and black pepper is a strategic momentum in encouraging the downstreaming of coconut commodities and strengthening South Sumatra's position as one of the regions producing competitive coconut products in the global market. The exported products include various coconut derivatives such as 46 tons of coconut shell charcoal to China, 25 tons of coconut chips and 500 kg of black pepper, 21 tons of processed crackers to Taiwan, and 3 tons of desiccated coconut to France.
Furthermore, this export activity also recorded significant economic value, with a total value reaching around IDR 1.6 billion, reflecting the increased competitiveness of local products and the readiness of business actors to meet global market standards.
As a port operator, Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang plays an active role in ensuring the smooth flow of export logistics by providing integrated, efficient, and reliable port services. This support includes loading and unloading facilities, terminal management, and logistics connectivity that support the distribution of goods to international markets.
The General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang, represented by the Commercial Manager, Darmawi, stated that the success of this initial export was the result of solid collaboration between the government, business actors, and all relevant stakeholders in building a strong and sustainable export ecosystem.

Through this activity, it is hoped that exports of South Sumatran coconut derivative products can continue to grow, opening up wider market opportunities, and making a real contribution to regional and national economic growth.
