JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 2 recorded positive operational performance throughout the latest period. Growth was evident in container traffic, increased ship activity, and a surge in domestic passenger traffic, demonstrating the port's strong role in supporting national logistics and public mobility.
Acting Executive Director 2 of Pelindo Regional 2, Budi Prasetio, said that this achievement was the result of consistent service improvements and strengthening operational coordination across all work areas.
"Overall, our operational performance is showing a very positive trend. This is evident in the increase in container traffic, ship activity, and the continued growth in domestic passengers," said Budi.
In terms of ship traffic, 14.4 thousand ships were recorded with a total tonnage of 284.6 million GT.
This performance even exceeded the target, with an achievement of 104 percent of the RKAP and growing up to 106 percent year on year, reflecting increased shipping activity at a number of strategic ports.
Meanwhile, container traffic also demonstrated solid performance. Container volume reached 1.5 million boxes, equivalent to 2.2 million TEUs, reaching 100 percent of the RKAP target and representing 104 percent year-on-year growth.
"This increase in container flow is an indicator that trade and distribution activities continue to move. We are ensuring efficient loading and unloading services to maintain the national supply chain," he continued.
Positive performance was also seen in non-containerized flows. The volume of goods recorded reached 14.5 million tons, representing 106 percent of the target and 106 percent year-on-year growth. This was driven by increased dry bulk commodity activity in several Pelindo Regional 2 operational areas.
On the passenger service side, domestic passenger traffic recorded significant growth, reaching a total of 383,000 people, or 111 percent of the RKAP target and growing 117 percent year-on-year. This increase was primarily driven by high public mobility during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period.
"The increase in domestic passenger traffic demonstrates that ports remain the public's primary choice. We continue to ensure optimal service to ensure safe and comfortable travel," Budi added.
In addition, loading and unloading productivity at various terminals also showed good achievements, supported by equipment optimization, improved operational coordination, and the use of digital systems in port management.
Going forward, Pelindo Regional 2 will continue to maintain this growth momentum by improving service quality and strengthening synergies with all stakeholders, in order to support the smooth distribution of national logistics and Indonesia's economic growth.
