Logistics Coordination Improves, Controlling Ship Flow Post Iedul Fitri

JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News, April 10, 2026)
  – Post-Eid al-Fitr ship calls and container traffic at the IPC TPK (International Port Authority) showed a downward trend compared to the pre-Eid al-Fitr period. Operational data shows a decrease in ship calls from 121 calls in the pre-Eid al-Fitr period to 88 calls in the post-Eid al-Fitr period in 2026, a decrease of approximately 27%. Container traffic also decreased from 77,577 TEUs to 47,775 TEUs.

This decline is in line with the trend that also occurred during the previous year's Eid al-Fitr period, which indicates a shift in logistics distribution patterns in the last two years, where service users tend to send goods earlier before the Eid al-Fitr period.

This pattern is inextricably linked to operational regulations and restrictions on the flow of goods during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period, including  gatepass quotas  and ship arrival management at Tanjung Priok Port. In the first week after Eid al-Fitr, operational capacity is set at a maximum of 50%, gradually returning to normal in the following weeks. This encourages service users to expedite deliveries or  frontload  before the restriction period, resulting in a more relaxed post-Eid al-Fitr activity period.

IPC TPK Corporate Secretary, Pramestie Wulandary, explained that this trend indicates a change in Eid logistics patterns in the last two years.

"In the past two years, there has been a shift in logistics patterns during Eid. Service users now tend to make deliveries earlier, ahead of operational restrictions and traffic management at ports. Therefore, after Eid, ship activity does not experience the same surge as before, but tends to return to normal or even decline. This demonstrates improved and coordinated logistics planning between terminal operators, shipping companies, and service users."

Although there was a decrease in ship visits after Eid, this condition does not necessarily indicate a decrease in overall logistics activity, but rather indicates an adjustment in distribution patterns and logistics planning to avoid congestion during the Eid period.

In closing, Pramestie added, "This pattern demonstrates that coordination and logistics planning between port stakeholders are improving, allowing for more even distribution of goods and preventing congestion in one period. This ensures that port operations continue to run smoothly and congestion can be anticipated."

IPC TPK together with all port stakeholders continues to coordinate to ensure the smooth flow of logistics, both in the pre- and post-Eid period, so that the distribution of goods continues to run smoothly, under control, and does not cause congestion in the port area or on access roads to the port.
