LAMPUNG (ISL News, March 26, 2026) – The state is present even at traditional ports. In the momentum of the 2026 Eid al-Fitri 1447 Hijriah return flow (Arus Balik), the Tanjung Priok Class I Sea and Coast Guard Base (PLP), Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, deployed the state patrol vessel KN.Golok-P.206 to carry out Surveillance and Security activities (WASPAM) on the vital route of Sebesi Island Port – Canti Kalianda Pier, Lampung.
This route is a major transportation route for coastal communities using traditional boats, particularly during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which sees a significant increase in passenger numbers. This situation makes the government's presence a key factor in ensuring safety, order, and smooth navigation.
This activity was carried out through close coordination between the Head of the Tanjung Priok Class I PLP Base, Fourmansyah, SH, MM, MH, and the Head of the Bakauheni Class IV KSOP, Capt. Suratno, SE, MM, as a form of synergy between the work units of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation in ensuring optimal shipping safety supervision up to the people's port.
As a form of real action in the field, KN. Golok – P.206 personnel carried out: Education on sailing safety for the captain and passengers, Supervision of the carrying capacity of traditional ships, Direct assistance in people's sailing activities, Assistance with the embarkation and disembarkation process for passengers
The approach taken is not only supervisory, but also humanistic and preventive, in order to increase public awareness of the importance of shipping safety.
Head of KSOP Class IV Bakauheni, Capt. Suratno, SE, MM, said that synergy is the main factor in maintaining the safety of public shipping.
"The synergy between the KPLP and KSOP is key to ensuring that all shipping activities, including those at traditional ports, run safely, orderly, and under control, especially during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Tanjung Priok Class I PLP Base, Fourmansyah, SH, MM, MH, emphasized that the presence of the KPLP is part of the state's commitment to protecting the community in the waters.
"The Sebesi Island Port-Kalianda is a vital route for the community. The KPLP is present not only to supervise but also to provide education and direct assistance to ensure every journey is safe until it reaches its destination," he stressed.
He also added that KPLP prioritizes a service approach that is directly felt by the community.
"We want the public to truly feel the presence of the state at sea. Maritime safety is a shared responsibility, and the KPLP is here to ensure every journey reaches its destination safely," he added.
During the activity, the condition of the Sebesi – Kalianda waters was monitored as safe, smooth, and conducive, with clear cloudy weather and no prominent incidents were found.
This activity is concrete evidence that the state is actively present even in traditional ports which are the lifeblood of coastal communities—not only supervising, but also serving and protecting.
