SEMARANG INDONESIA (ISL News, March 16, 2026)  - Four post-Panamax Quay Container Cranes (QCCs) arrived at Tanjung Emas Port on Saturday (March 14, 2026). The arrival of this large-capacity loading and unloading equipment will strengthen the operations of the Semarang Container Terminal (TPK).

The addition of this modern crane is a strategic step by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo through its subholding PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP) to increase terminal service capacity while strengthening the role of Tanjung Emas Port as a major logistics hub in the Central Java region.

With the addition of these four units, the total number of QCCs at TPK Semarang now stands at 10. This addition is expected to improve the terminal's capacity to handle large container ships and boost the productivity of loading and unloading activities at the dock.

Terminal Head TPK Semarang, I Nyoman Sutrisna, said that the cranes brought in are post-panamax types designed to handle large-generation container ships with high productivity.

"This crane has an outreach of around 60 meters, allowing it to reach more than 16 rows of containers from the side of the ship," said Nyoman.

Furthermore, the crane has a lifting capacity of up to 65 tons using a spreader and is equipped with a high-speed hoisting system. This technology allows for faster and more efficient loading and unloading.

According to Nyoman, the addition of this equipment is part of an effort to improve the quality of terminal services.
