JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News, March 3, 2026) — PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo recorded significant growth in cruise ship activity throughout 2025. The company served 215 cruise ship visits with a total of 424,507 passengers through the company-managed passenger terminal.
This achievement demonstrates a consistent upward trend over the past three years. In 2023, 149 visits were recorded, increasing to 190 in 2024, and growing again to 215 in 2025. This growth further confirms Indonesia's position as a key destination in the global cruise network.
The arrival of hundreds of thousands of international tourists via cruise ships has boosted tourism activities in various leading destinations, from Bali to the Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi regions, while also providing a multiplier effect on the regional economy.
Pelindo Corporate Secretariat Group Head, Ali Sodikin, stated that this positive trend reflects the increasing confidence of international cruise ship industry players in the infrastructure readiness and quality of port services managed by the Company.
"The growth in cruise ship visits in recent years reflects Indonesia's growing appeal as a cruise ship destination and demonstrates global confidence in the quality of services and port infrastructure managed by Pelindo," Ali said.
Furthermore, Pelindo continues to strengthen collaboration with local governments, cruise ship operators, travel agents, and other stakeholders to ensure that every cruise ship visit provides the best possible experience for tourists and optimal economic benefits for local communities.
One of the main contributors to cruise ship traffic is Benoa Port, which was recorded as a major hub with 65 visits and 146,105 passengers throughout 2025. This achievement reflects the high level of confidence of international cruise ship operators in the capacity and quality of Benoa's services as the main gateway to Indonesia's marine tourism.
