PAGAR ALAM (ISL News, February 12, 2026) - IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting local-based economic development through the construction of the Salipayak Jokoh Coffee Village gate in Pagar Alam City, South Sumatra. This initiative is part of the company's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program and supports the South Sumatra Provincial Government's program to increase regional coffee exports.
"IPC Terminal Petikemas is not only focused on national logistics connectivity but is also committed to delivering sustainable social impact. Through the construction of the Kampung Kawe Salipayak Jokoh gate, we hope to strengthen the identity of Kopi Pagar Alam while opening new economic opportunities for the community, in line with efforts to increase South Sumatran coffee exports," said Pramestie Wulandary, Corporate Secretary of IPC Terminal Petikemas.
Pagar Alam City is known as one of South Sumatra's leading centers for Robusta coffee, grown at an altitude of 1,000–1,600 meters above sea level at the foot of Mount Dempo. Besides being a primary source of income for the local community, Pagar Alam coffee has also developed into an educational and culinary tourism attraction, along with the growth of coffee tourism villages and local coffee shops. Thus, Pagar Alam coffee has the potential to be competitively marketed internationally.
Jangsah, Head of the Harapan Jaya Farmers Group in Kawe Salipayak Jokoh Village, Pagar Alam City, welcomed the IPC TPK initiative at the gate inauguration. "Thank you to IPC TPK for providing assistance with the construction of the gate in our village. We hope this is the first step to developing Kawe Village as a center for coffee tourism and education in South Sumatra."
The Salipayak Jokoh Coffee Village gate is designed as a branding symbol for the area and as an entrance to the coffee-producing village. The gate is expected to increase the region's visibility, encourage tourism, and strengthen the community's economic activity through the development of coffee-based agriculture and tourism. This initiative is expected to be the first step in establishing Salipayak Jokoh Village as a pilot plantation and coffee tourism village in Pagar Alam City, as well as strengthening Pagar Alam Coffee's position as a native export commodity from South Sumatra.
"Going forward, IPC TPK is optimistic that the synergy between the company and farmer groups, local government, and the community will encourage Salipayak Jokoh Coffee Village to develop into a superior, highly competitive coffee destination, providing added value to the local economy, while expanding the promotion of South Sumatran coffee to the national and international levels," Pramestie concluded.
The inauguration of the gate was also attended by a number of local governments and related agencies, including the Deputy Mayor of Pagar Alam, Hj Bertha, Member of the DPRD Commission III of Pagar Alam City, Dedi Stanza, Head of the Regional Planning, Development, Research and Innovation Agency of Pagar Alam City, Fherla Yudhi Aguslan, Head of Dempo Tengah District, Buraqqo Bangun, Village Head, Jokoh Suidi, Representatives of the Pagar Alam City Education Office, Representatives of the Pagar Alam City Agriculture Office, and PT Agri Ekspor Indonesia.
