SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation by planting 120 pine seedlings on Saturday (January 31) in the Coban Talun area of Batu City. This activity is a key part of the company's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, which focuses on environmental preservation and climate change mitigation.
This activity involved the participation of all TPS Directors and employees, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability. The involvement of all company elements made this activity not only an environmental conservation initiative but also a momentum to strengthen togetherness and a positive culture within the company.
TPS Corporate Secretary, Erika Asih Palupi, said that tree planting is a concrete step that TPS consistently takes to maintain environmental balance, especially in the East Java region.
"Planting 120 pine seedlings demonstrates TPS's commitment to supporting environmental conservation and contributing to minimizing the impacts of climate change. We are involving all employees because environmental preservation is a shared responsibility," he said.
Coban Talun was chosen as the planting location because it is a natural tourism area that requires enhanced vegetation to maintain soil structure, increase water catchment areas, and improve air quality. Pine trees themselves are highly adaptable and can provide long-term ecological benefits.
The activity, which began this morning, also included environmental education sessions, sharing about the benefits of trees for ecosystem balance, and a shared commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability. The sense of camaraderie between the TPS Directors and workers was palpable, ensuring the event was full of enthusiasm.
"We want to ensure that every step we take has a positive impact, both on the environment and the community. Through the TJSL program, TPS will continue to provide sustainable activities that benefit many parties," Erika added.
PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya is committed to continuously implementing various social and environmental initiatives that are aligned with the sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly those related to climate action, terrestrial ecosystems and sustainable livelihoods.
