SERANG BANTEN INDONESIA (ISLNews, 07/02/2026) – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Banten emphasized the role of Ciwandan Port as a strategic logistics hub that not only supports industrial activities but also provides tangible benefits to the Banten community and national interests. This commitment was conveyed by the General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten, Benny Ariadi, in an Infrastructure Seminar as part of the series of commemorations of National Press Day (HPN - Hari Pers Nasional) pada 9 Februari 2026.
In a seminar entitled "Innovation in the Development of Ciwandan Port for the Benefit of the Banten Community" held at the Ballroom of the Aston Serang Hotel, Saturday (7/2/2026), Benny explained the direction of the transformation of Ciwandan Port which is now developing from an industrial bulk cargo port to a multifunctional port with an increasingly inclusive and sustainable role.
This transformation is aimed at strengthening logistics connectivity, increasing the efficiency of port services, and opening up broader economic and social benefits for the region. According to Benny, port development is not solely measured by loading and unloading activities, but by the extent to which its presence can stimulate growth in the surrounding region.
"We position Ciwandan Port as part of Banten's development ecosystem. Its presence must provide added value for businesses, local communities, and the national logistics system," said Benny.
Furthermore, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten is also developing several operational innovations and infrastructure planning, including the Bojonegara Terminal development plan, which aims to strengthen the port's role as a regional economic driver. This initiative is expected to create a multiplier effect through the growth of supporting business activities, increased employment, and improved supply chains in Banten and the surrounding area.
Beyond economic aspects, Pelindo also emphasizes a humanistic approach to port management. Through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program, the company consistently supports the community, providing social assistance, disaster management support, and empowerment programs tailored to local needs.
"We recognize that ports are living spaces directly adjacent to communities. Therefore, social sustainability is an integral part of our development strategy," he added.
Concluding his presentation, Benny appreciated the role of the press as a strategic partner in conveying objective and balanced information on infrastructure development to the public. He believed that the media's presence was crucial in building public understanding of Pelindo's policy direction and transformation.
"Through this National Press Day momentum, we hope to maintain synergy with the media. The press plays a crucial role in overseeing and conveying that port development in Banten is being carried out for the common good," Benny concluded.
The seminar was attended by regional stakeholders, infrastructure practitioners, and national press personnel who gathered in Serang to commemorate National Press Day 2026.
