SURABAYA (ISL News)
  - Nilam Container Terminal (TPK Nilam), a domestic container terminal managed by PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL), managed to record positive performance in the first quarter of 2025.

Year-on-year (YoY), the number of ship arrivals increased by 12%, from 173 ships in the same period in 2024 to 193 ships this year. This increase had a direct impact on the growth in the volume of containers served, which was 111,984 TEUs or an increase of 7% compared to the previous year which was recorded at 105,004 TEUs.

This increase was driven by the increase in ship allocation and container volume from several regions, such as Bitung, Ambon, Banjarmasin, and Jakarta.

To support the increase in traffic, TTL continues to boost the operational performance of TPK Nilam so that ship berthing time (port stay) can be minimized, providing high efficiency while maximizing ship mooring capacity.

As a result, in the first quarter of 2025, Box Ship Hour (BSH), namely the number of containers loaded/unloaded in one hour, reached an average of 37 boxes/hour, up 6% compared to the same period last year of 34 boxes/hour, and exceeded the target set at 30 boxes/hour.

As part of TTL, TPK Nilam not only targets high operational performance, but is also committed to implementing Occupational Safety and Health (K3) with a target of Zero Accident. A strong K3 culture is an important foundation in ensuring the smoothness and safety of operational service processes.

President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, David Pandapotan Sirait, said that the achievement of TPK Nilam's performance was the result of synergy between increasing productivity and consistent implementation of K3. "We will continue to strive to provide the best service to service users by optimizing equipment, human resources, and creating added value for TTL and all stakeholders," said David.

Several K3 strengthening initiatives that have been implemented at TPK Nilam include: the implementation of access control to regulate people's activities in the terminal area, minimum safety standards (minimum requirement for safety) on facilities and equipment, and strict supervision (safety control) in the dock area and container stacking yard.
