MAKASSAR (ISL News) - The giant expedition cruise ship, Scenic Eclipse II, measuring 168 meters long, built in Rijeka, Croatia, docked at Soekarno-Hatta Port, Makassar, Tuesday (08/04) after previously visiting Palopo, South Sulawesi.
The arrival of this ship is part of a series of exclusive cruises exploring exotic destinations in the Southeast Asia region.
The cruise ship carrying 177 tourists, including those from Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Japan, China, Malaysia, Poland, and Switzerland, docked at Makassar Port since 06.00 WITA and sailed back to Sandakan, Malaysia at 17.00 WITA.
"The arrival of this cruise ship is an important momentum for Pelindo and is a positive signal for the maritime and tourism sector in Makassar," said Executive Director 4 Pelindo Regional 4, Abdul Azis.
"We warmly welcome the arrival of this cruise ship. This is proof that Makassar Port is increasingly trusted as one of the ports of call for international tourist ships. We continue to strive to improve services and facilities in order to provide the best impression for tourists," he added.
While in Makassar, tourists visited several leading destinations such as Leang-Leang in Bantimurung, Maros, and took a city tour to several existing tourist destinations. Their presence also contributed to a positive economic impact for UMKM actors, tour guides, and the local transportation sector.
After a few hours stopover in Makassar, Scenic Eclipse II is scheduled to continue its voyage to Sandakan, Malaysia. This voyage is part of an exclusive route that highlights the rich culture and natural beauty of Southeast Asia.

With this visit, Makassar Port confirms its position as one of the main gateways for marine tourism in the Eastern Indonesia Region (KTI).
