
SURABAYA INDONESIA (ISL News) – In early 2025, PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) handled loading and unloading exceeding the set target, by handling 120,857 TEUs or an achievement of 101.61% compared to the target. This performance is supported by the achievement of international container flow handling performance with an achievement of 102.84% compared to the target.
When compared to the same period in 2024, the achievement of container flows at TPS in January 2025 was corrected by 6.8%, with a correction contribution to the achievement of international container flows of 3.9% compared to January 2024. This is a consequence of the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday which caused a number of ships, especially those originating from and heading to China, to temporarily not operate.
The comparison of container flows between exports and imports in January 2025 was 48% (55,527 TEUs) for export containers and 52% (59,392 TEUs) for import containers. Compared to the same period in 2024, the import container flow in 2025 increased by 1%. The 51% import percentage contributed to the container flow of 60,662 TEUs. On the other hand, the export container flow was corrected by 1%. The export container flow in January 2024 was recorded at 58,885 TEUs.
TPS President Director, Wahyu Widodo revealed that TPS continues to make sustainable efforts in handling container loading and unloading, both internationally and domestically. Among these sustainable efforts are carried out through various initiatives, including strengthening the implementation of standardization, in this case including carrying out operational activities based on planning & control , continuing the digitalization journey and carrying out efficiency initiatives. " We are grateful to be able to achieve the throughput target in early 2025 in accordance with the target set by the Shareholders and will continue to make efforts to achieve better achievements every time ," he said.
In terms of loading and unloading performance, TPS also recorded a significant increase, with an achievement of 50 boxes/ship/hour, exceeding the loading and unloading performance set by the Ministry of Transportation through the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority Office in Surabaya (48 boxes/ship/hour). TPS still leads the market share with a percentage of 83% at Tanjung Perak Port.
