
JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) – Last Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Class I Tanjung Priok Sea and Coast Guard Base (KPLP) successfully carried out a rescue of the MT SP5BSI ship, IMO No.9755995 which experienced an incident of running aground, leaking and the crew floating at sea due to bad weather in the Tanjung Priok waters.
This incident was reported by Puskodal Pangkalan KPLP Tanjung Priok after receiving information from VTS Jakarta. At the time of the incident, the MT. SP5BSI, IMO No.9755995 ship was empty, with an estimated wind speed of 40 knots. The ship was carrying 18 crew members (ABK).
Following up on the incident report, Head of the Tanjung Priok KPLP Base, Dr. Triono said that his party immediately deployed personnel and supporting equipment to ensure the safety of the ship's crew and prevent the possibility of fuel spills that could pollute the waters. Thanks to good coordination between the KPLP team and related agencies, the rescue operation was able to run smoothly.
On that occasion, the Head of the Tanjung Priok KPLP Base, Dr. Triono, deployed the RIB SAR Team with the KN. P-348 Patrol ship, and coordinated with the Tanjung Priok Main KSOP, Tanjung Priok Navigation District and the Jakarta Maritime Occupational Health Center (BKKP) to successfully evacuate the ship's crew who were then immediately taken to the Tanjung Priok KPLP Base pier and used the BKKP ambulance to get medical assistance and then handed over to the shipping company PT. Lima Sekawan Marine and family.
One of the ship's crew, Alvin (helmsman) who survived, said that at the time of the incident the weather was very bad which caused the accident and expressed his gratitude to the Tanjung Priok KPLP Base, Tanjung Priok Main KSOP, Tanjung Priok Navigation District and the Jakarta Maritime Occupational Health Center (BKKP) for the assistance that had been provided.
